Fantasy Football Week 15: 10 Waiver Moves To Win Your Playoff Matchup
Fantasy Football Week 15 is up, and you fantasy owners are well into the playoffs. Lucky for you, the actual NFL teams are all in some serious playoff races. That is all good news, as fantasy studs will continue to be thrown out onto the gridiron to perform.
But that does not mean you don't need a little help. Fantasy playoffs can be a trying time for a manager. You can win or lose the whole season by a mere couple of points. So here are 10 pickups that can help you hold sway over your league.
As always, I will use the Yahoo system to find you the most available players that will wreak havoc on your opponent.
10. Brandon Gibson, WR, St. Louis
1 of 10
Yahoo Owned: Three Percent
This may be a wait and see pickup. If you are absolutely starved for a pick and you are in a deep league, Gibson may very well be your only option. It is not necessarily a bad one either.
The Rams will get the Chiefs at home this weekend. At home, the Rams are always a prolific offense. While Bradford does not necessarily have a number one option at receiver, Gibson may be the closest thing. He went for 67 yards against the Saints and could very well be the star on Sunday.
9. Tashard Choice, RB, Dallas
2 of 10
Yahoo Owned: 30 percent
I have a hunch that Tashard Choice will have a breakout game against the Redskins at home. He had a remarkable game against the Colts a couple of weeks ago and then was back to a more ho hum game against the Eagles. After the game, he sought an autograph from Mike Vick.
He has since been hammered by the media and fans. I would think this would give him added motivation to show the fans he is here to win. Also the Redskins are horrible, so there is that.
8. Cleveland Browns, Defense
3 of 10
Yahoo Owned: 32 percent
The Browns may have a mediocre team but they have a stout defense. They are currently owned by only 32 percent of teams but boast the eighth best fantasy points.
This week, the Browns face the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals have a way of making even the most tenuous defenses look absolutely remarkable. I am sure the Browns will lock down whatever the Bengals can mange to throw at them.
7. Alex Smith, QB, San Francisco
4 of 10
Yahoo Owned: 20 percent
Alex Smith showed that he had little to no rust last week. He came back from injury and threw for over 250 yards and three touchdowns. I do have to warn you that he did this against the Seahawks. That is like scoring in Amsterdam with a wad of cash and a smile.
He faces the Chargers this week, and it is anyone's guess what team he will get. My bet is that the Chargers are well back to the losing ways that beset them earlier in the season. If you are hurting for a QB, take a chance on Smith.
6. Sam Bradford, QB, St. Louis
5 of 10
Yahoo Owned: 50 percent
It seems like half the leagues out there still have not realized that Sam Bradford is the real deal. Bradford has little to no growing pains in his inaugural season as the Rams starting quarterback. He has done it with a very thin receiver corps helping him out.
This week, he has the Chiefs at home. The Rams are a great offensive machine at home. The turf has a way of making these young receivers a little more adept at catching the ball it seems.
5. Arrelious Benn, WR, Tampa Bay
6 of 10
Yahoo Owned: Five percent
Arrelious Benn is most assuredly available in your league. He is the jewel you need to pick up to breathe some life into your fantasy season. Late in the year, it is very hard to find a potential star, Benn could be that star.
He had his first 100 yard game last week. This week he faces the Lions defense. Trust me when I say that QB Josh Freeman will be able to spread the love to all corners of the field. Another 100 yard effort is very reasonable to expect.
4. Davone Bess, WR, Miami
7 of 10
Yahoo Owned: 47 percent
Davone Bess looked horrible last week. But there were a couple of things at work there. One, he was covered for the most part by Darrelle Revis. Two, Chad Henne was ineffective at getting him the ball.
This week, he and the Dolphins take on the Bills. It will be a shoot out with both teams unable to cover each other. That kind of mess is exactly what Davone Bess owners will want to see. This guy would be a great fit for those in trouble at the flex position.
3. Owen Daniels, TE, Houston
8 of 10
Yahoo Owned: 30 percent
One of the best tight ends to start the season is back. He had his first game after returning from a hamstring injury last week against the Ravens. He had five catches for 91 yards. It is tough to return to NFL speed after injury, but Owens did a fine job against a stout defense.
Now having a week under his belt, Daniels will go off this week; mark my words. The Texans face the Titans, and there is nary a person that can carry a healthy Owen Daniels' jock strap.
2. Ryan Torain, RB, Washington
9 of 10
Yahoo Owned: 48 percent
Torain finally returned from a hamstring injury, and I have to say, dude looked good. It is getting late in the day to jump on him. But he very well may be free to boost your running back slot. The Washington running back ran for over 170 yards last week against Tampa Bay.
The Redskins have Dallas this Sunday. The Cowboys are hit or miss on their rushing defense. Actually more often than not, they are a miss. So pick him up, start him and thank me later.
1. Earl Bennett, WR, Chicago Bears
10 of 10
Yahoo Owned: 16 percent
The Bears may have finally found a consistent number two receiver behind Johnny Knox. The Bear wide-out followed a 100 yard games against the Lions with a 53 yard performance against the Patriots. It should be noted that the Patriots have emerged as a defense that has learned to cover the pass.
But Monday night will be the Bears show. They will face off against the Vikings. As we saw this past Monday night, the Vikings cannot cover anyone. I will guarantee another 100 yard performance.
