Michael Vick: Where Does He Rank Amongst Top 10 MVP Candidates?
Michael Vick added another win to his stellar season for the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys.
Vick has carried the Eagles to a 9-4 record and first place in the NFC East.
His story has been one many have followed very closely, and he is one of the most polarizing athletes off the field.
On the field, however, his play is outstanding and he is drawing some serious attention for NFL MVP.
Where does he stand in relation to other MVP candidates in the league? Here are the 10 favorites to win the NFL MVP award this year.
10. Jamaal Charles
1 of 10
Rushing Stats: 192 carries, 1,177 yards, three touchdowns
Receiving Stats: 36 catches, 388 yards, one touchdown
Jamaal Charles has been the biggest reason the Kansas City Chiefs are in the playoff hunt this year.
His dynamic running, teamed with Thomas Jones' power style, has led the Chiefs to an 8-5 record and first place in the AFC West so far this year.
When the weather starts to turn cold and miserable, Charles is a great weapon to have in your backfield as you make a push for the playoffs.
9. Aaron Rodgers
2 of 10
Passing Stats: 268-of-410, 3,289 yards, 23 touchdowns, 10 interceptions
Rushing Stats: 55 carries, 309 yards, four touchdowns
If Aaron Rodgers can't play on Sunday in New England, the Green Bay Packers literally have no chance of winning that football game.
When you have no running game, your backup QB is Matt Flynn and your head coach is Mike McCarthy, having an elite QB like Aaron Rodgers is the only way to stay competitive.
Rodgers runs the short passing game better than any quarterback in the league and is by far the Packers' most valuable player.
8. Drew Brees
3 of 10
Passing Stats: 362-of-525, 3,855 yards, 28 touchdowns, 18 interceptions
Brees has thrown a lot more interceptions than we are used to seeing from him, but the Saints are on a six-game winning streak largely because of his improved play.
With all the injuries at running back this year, some struggles were to be expected on offense.
But now Brees has settled in and is playing the way he is capable of playing. He has the Saints in the playoff hunt with a 10-3 record as of Week 13.
7. Peyton Manning
4 of 10
Passing Stats: 378-of-569, 4,028 yards, 26 touchdowns, 15 interceptions
Speaking of quarterbacks with more interceptions than we are used to seeing, Peyton Manning has thrown 15 picks this year.
However, he still has the Colts on the verge of making the playoffs despite all the injuries the offense has had to deal with this season.
If anyone but Manning was quarterbacking the Colts, they could be 3-10 right now instead of 7-6.
6. Roddy White
5 of 10
Receiving Stats: 99 catches, 1,219 yards, seven touchdowns
White has been the best receiver in the NFL this year. His numbers speak for themselves.
He has given Matt Ryan a go-to receiver that he can count on no matter the down and distance.
An elite wide receiver like White is a quarterback's best friend.
5. Matt Ryan
6 of 10
Passing Stats: 300-of-475, 3,147 yards, 22 touchdowns, eight interceptions
Ryan has the Atlanta Falcons in the driver's seat for home-field advantage in the NFC.
That's great because the Falcons are unbeatable at home this year, with a 6-0 record so far.
The Falcons are going to be a very tough out in the playoffs.
4. Philip Rivers
7 of 10
Passing Stats: 290-of-439, 3,868 yards, 26 touchdowns, 11 interceptions
Rivers and the Chargers have been disappointing all year long, but they beat the AFC West-leading Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday to climb back into the division race.
They are currently 7-6, one game behind the Chiefs.
Now Rivers has Malcom Floyd and Vincent Jackson back, his two best receivers. If Antonio Gates is able to return next week, the Chargers might just make the playoffs.
3. Maurice Jones-Drew
8 of 10
Rushing Stats: 284 carries, 1,278 yards, five touchdowns
Receiving Stats: 32 catches, 295 yards, two touchdowns
MJD has been running all over opponents all year long. He's the main reason the Jaguars are winning the AFC South with an 8-5 record.
The Jags are probably the most surprising division leader after Week 13, and it's mostly because of their running game.
MJD already has seven 100-yard rushing games on the year and has gone over 100 yards in each of his last six games.
2. Michael Vick
9 of 10
Passing Stats: 187-of-294, 2,513 yards, 17 touchdowns, four interceptions
Rushing Stats: 82 carries, 483 yards, seven touchdowns
Vick has been a dynamic player for the Eagles this season. He's led them to a 9-4 record, helping them stay in the lead in the NFC East race.
Vick has developed into the passer he never was in Atlanta and will likely finish the season with over 3,000 yards through the air despite missing three games due to injury.
The best stat listed above is his four interceptions. Vick is taking care of the ball and winning football games for Philadelphia.
1. Tom Brady
10 of 10
Passing Stats: 284-of-425, 3,398 yards, 29 touchdowns, four interceptions
Tom Brady hasn't thrown an interception since Week 6, an overtime win against the Baltimore Ravens.
Brady has the best touchdown-to-interception ratio in the league amongst starters and has the Patriots one win away from clinching home-field advantage in the AFC playoff picture.
Home-field advantage will be bad news for the rest of the AFC, as New England is 6-0 at home this season.
If things stay the way they are right now and the Patriots coast into the No. 1 seed in the AFC, there's no question that Tom Brady is the Most Valuable Player in the NFL.
