Philadelphia Eagles Monday Morning Madness: Eagles Get It Done in Big D
Game Balls - DeSean Jackson, LeSean McCoy, Michael Vick
For the second time this season, we were treated to a feast of a game. The Eagles played the Cowboys just like they played the Giants earlier in the season. They used a combination of good playcalling and toughness to seal the win. Wait a minute. Did I just say good playcalling and toughness? Wow. It's been a while since I could say that.
Despite a few more three-and-outs than we're used to, the Eagles offense once again came up with the big plays that were needed. The DeSean Jackson touchdown pass and subsequent run (the huge one) was as clutch as you can get. His dive into the end zone was pretty cool too!
Defensively, the Eagles were impressive, although they looked very soft on a couple of plays such as the final Cowboys touchdown to Jason Witten. Nate Allen had a chance to absolutely destroy Witten but the Eagles drafted him for his coverage ability, not his hitting.
My award for the key play in the game goes to Eagles' safety Kurt Coleman's pass breakup at the five-yard line. Coleman broke up a Jon Kitna pass that was a sure touchdown and, since the Eagles only won by three, would've won the game for the Cowboys.
Juqua Parker, welcome back! The things the Eagles can do against the run with Juqua Parker in the lineup is astounding. His ability to force the runners inside is something that we have missed for years.
The secondary played a very decent game as well. Dmitri Patterson came up big multiple times. I can't help but believe that Patterson should be our No. 2 cornerback come next season. The guy is up to any challenge and plays as hard as anybody. Well done.
Michael Vick played as tough of a game as you could ask for. He was pounded multiple times but still recovered without err.
LeSean McCoy was my player of the game. You could make the argument that D-Jack was the MVP all you want but it was McCoy's big runs that set us up to score and ultimately sealed the game. The quickness and drive that he displayed was pretty cool to watch.
Up next is the New York Giants at the New Meadowlands. This will be just another bump in the road to the Lombardi Trophy. But, hey, to be the best you gotta beat the best (insert Ric Flair "Woo" here)!
