Fantasy NFL Week 14 Updated Injury Report, News and Notes
The fantasy playoffs have arrived. This means every little bit of information is even more important for fantasy owners struggling with matchup decisions.
Which players are definitely in for the ever important Week 14 matchups?
It was reported last night that the New York Giants vs. Minnesota Vikings game will be held on Monday night due to the roof collapsing at the Metrodome. This is tough for fantasy owners with Hakeem Nicks and Steve Smith. Both made the trip and come in questionable. We won’t know until tomorrow if they are active. It may be wiser not to wait to see if they are active tomorrow and just go with the insurance plan you had in mind.
It is being reported by ESPN’s Ed Werder that if the game took place today, Brett Favre would have been unable to play with his sprained shoulder. It will be interesting to see if he plays tomorrow, but if he does, downgrade Sidney Rice and upgrade Adrian Peterson.
Percy Harvin is still questionable after dealing with migraines earlier in the week.
With the fantasy playoffs on the line, don’t be misinformed!
Donald Driver, Green Bay Packers
1 of 15
Driver is having a down year but is active in the tasty matchup with Detroit. The Lions and Packers will put up points, and Driver actually has a great chance to score in this game.
Jahvid Best, Detroit Lions
2 of 15
Best is active despite still dealing with a toe injury. The toe injury has hampered Best’s abilities all season, but he is starting to regain composure slowly. Although this is a good matchup for Best, it is difficult to trust him with the playoffs on the line.
Santana Moss, Washington Redskins
3 of 15
Moss entered Sunday questionable with a knee injury. He is active for the matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With Aquib Talib out for the season, Moss has a better matchup going against Ronde Barber. It should be a good battle between two solid veterans.
Ryan Torain, Washington Redskins
4 of 15
Torain is finally active again after missing time with the hamstring injury. Torain has a good matchup, but it is not recommended for fantasy owners to insert Torain into the lineup. Mike Shanahan is notorious for juggling his running backs—don’t fall for the trap.
Mike Williams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
5 of 15
Williams is active against the Washington Redskins despite dealing with a knee injury. Williams is the No. 1 target for Josh Freeman and is always a threat to score. The Redskins defense has completely fallen apart. Feel safe using Williams this week.
Brandon Marshall, Miami Dolphins
6 of 15
Marshall is active against the New York Jets after missing time with a hamstring injury. Marshall will most likely be followed by Darrell Revis all over the field. With a duel against the best corner in the league in his first game back, it may be best to sit Marshall, although it will be tough for fantasy owners to do so because of his play-making potential.
Heath Miller, Pittsburgh Steelers
7 of 15
Heath Miller is inactive against the Cincinnati Bengals as expected after suffering a concussion from a brutal hit last week against the Baltimore Ravens.
Jermaine Gresham, Cincinnati Bengals
8 of 15
Gresham is active for a tough matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Gresham isn’t the best tight end option out there, but with the weather conditions, Carson Palmer could look his way early and often. He’s a sneaky play this week.
Colt McCoy, Cleveland Browns
9 of 15
McCoy is out again for the Browns, meaning Jake Delhomme will start against the Buffalo Bills. Delhomme turned Benjamin Watson back into a quality fantasy tight end against the Miami Dolphins and should do so again this week.
Terrell Owens, Cincinnati Bengals
10 of 15
Owens is active although a bit bothered by a knee injury. Owens owned the Steelers earlier this season and has a great opportunity to do so again. He is simply too big, fast and strong for the Steelers secondary.
Mike Sims-Walker, Jacksonville Jaguars
11 of 15
Sims-Walker is active with the bum ankle that has hobbled him recently. He does not have a good matchup at all against Raiders superstar cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha. Sims-Walker has been one of the biggest disappointments this season. Sitting him is a wise decision.
Todd Heap, Baltimore Ravens
12 of 15
Heap will miss Monday’s fantastic matchup against the Houston Texans. Heap has been doing well this season, but he pulled up lame last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers with a hamstring injury.
Marion Barber, Dallas Cowboys
13 of 15
Barber will be inactive again against the Philadelphia Eagles with a calf injury. Tashard Choice will serve as Felix Jones’s backup and is a solid flex option after last week.
Matt Cassel, Kansas City Chiefs
14 of 15
Cassel will miss the division matchup against the San Diego Chargers after an appendectomy earlier this week. Dwayne Bowe is downgraded with Brodie Croyle starting at quarterback. Thomas Jones and Jamaal Charles are both upgraded though, and they should be relied on heavily.
Weather Conditions:
15 of 15
Cleveland Browns @ Buffalo Bills: Cold and raining but no snow.
Miami Dolphins @ New York Jets: Cold and raining.
New England Patriots @ Chicago Bears: Freezing and snow.
Cincinnati Bengals @ Pittsburgh Steelers: Cold, raining and windy.
