College Football Week Two Predictions: Spread and Straight Up

In Week One, I went 8-3.  Not too bad.  This week I'll expand my picks and now pick against the spread and straight up.

Thursday

South Carolina at Vanderbilt (+9.5)

The Gamecocks came out flat last week before breaking through in the fourth quarter to roll N.C. State 34-0.  Steve Spurrier has already made his first QB change of the season, going to Chris Smelley.  The Commodores got a nice win last week against Miami OH.  Nickson had 166 yards rushing, and he definitely will not get that vs. South Carolina.

Friday

Navy at Ball State (-6.5)

Navy racked up crazy rushing yards last week, including one back going over 300 yards alone.  I'm picking the upset here.

Saturday

Georgia Tech at Boston College (-7)

Paul Johnson takes his triple option up to Boston after a solid win vs. a Ryan Perrilloux-led Jacksonville St. team last week.  BC is coming off a nice win vs. Kent State.

Winner: (Spread) Boston College; (Straight Up) Boston College

Brigham Young at Washington (+9)

BYU has aspirations for an undefeated season.  Washington is coming off a loss to Oregon.

Winner: (Spread) BYU; (Straight Up) BYU

Ole Miss at Wake Forest (-8)

Ole Miss has turned it around, but Wake will be too much.

Winner: (Spread) Ole Miss; (Straight Up) Wake Forest

Oregon St. at Penn St. (-16.5)

Winner: (Spread) Oregon St.; (Straight Up) Penn St.

West Virginia at East Carolina (+7.5)

WVU showed off an improved passing game last week while ECU upset Va. Tech.  Upset Special: ECU, I'm feeling the Purple Power.

La Tech at Kansas (-20.5)

Winner: (Spread) Kansas; (Straight Up) Kansas

Northwestern at Duke (+6.5)

C.J. Bacher, Tyrell Sutton, and Eric Peterman are too much for the Blue Devils.

Miami at Florida (-21.5)

Winner: (Spread) Miami; (Straight Up) Florida

Rice at Memphis (-3)

Winner: (Spread) Rice; (Straight Up) Rice

Stanford at Arizona State (-14)

The Cardinals looked impressive last week and will be able to keep it close vs. ASU.
