Dana White's Video Blogs: A New Form of Entertainment

Dorothy WillisSep 3, 2008

Dana White's video blogs are showing another side of the MMA business mogul that is funny and refreshing.

Unfortunately, there is still that little matter of the f-words flying with frequency.

I had written and have since deleted an article with my impressions on the "Randy and Dana Reunion"—which, when I re-watched it this morning, was not at all the same as I thought it was last night.

Being an expert on sleep deprivation and hallucinations, I will just chalk my initial interpretation up to that. After all, I am not paranoid enough to believe that Dana read my article and redid his video just to confuse me and mess up my article. I am a Dana White fan, remember?

But it is surprising to me that people aren't all buzzing about these video blogs and how they show a lighter, more friendly side to the president of the UFC. White is not the stern authoritarian I had thought he was—in fact, quite the contrary.

White is as funny as Joe Rogan, which is possibly why, in spite of Joe's shortcomings (prescription for pot), they get along so well.

White, Couture, and Ken Florian went to the premiere of the year's first shooting of Entourage, and, according to Dana, Florian is a big fan of "Turtle." They seemed to have had a wonderful "boys night out," especially now that Couture is back in the fold and Dana's BFF again.

Today they are headed to Atlanta for more interviews, video blogs, and preparations for Friday's weigh-ins and Saturday night's fight.

Being in Dana's inner circle appears to take a lot of energy. I am not sure that anyone not in training could keep pace with him for a whole day's activities. He did mention that he and Kenny had tucked Randy in after their night together.

Randy needs to be thinking about his fight with Brock as soon as he is done with this promotional tour and after the UFC 88 event.

The video blogs of Dana at UFC 87 included Rampage, I watched them not realizing that the blogs would become an ongoing feature on YouTube with Dana.

So I encourage readers to watch these blogs, since you all obviously have access to computers and probably know much more about YouTube than I do. All of you deserve to see the Dana-lite show with comedy and many UFC fighters spending time with the boss.

If cranky old Grandma enjoys it, well it must be worth at least a little look.
