NFL Picks Week 14: 10 Upsets You Can Bet the House On
Another week in the NFL is set to begin Thursday night when Indianapolis travels to Tennessee.
There aren't any high-profile games on the same level as last week's Baltimore-Pittsburgh game, or the Monday night showdown between New England and the Jets.
But there still is a slate of intriguing matchups, led by Chicago's game with the Patriots. Dallas also hosts Philadelphia, and Kansas City faces San Diego.
I see those games, and wonder: How will the Pats do on a short week?
Can Jason Garrett and Dallas keep it up and slow down Michael Vick? Can the Chargers knock off the Chiefs and still have a shot at the playoffs?
Upsets loom, and these are 10 that stand out. Odds are from vegasinsider.com:
10. Houston Topples Baltimore
1 of 10
Current Vegas odds: Baltimore by 3
Sure, Baltimore is coming off a tough loss to Pittsburgh, but I'll always give Houston a chance when you've got the offensive talent they do.
9. Detroit Breaks Through
2 of 10
Current Vegas odds: Green Bay by 6.5
The Lions lost the first game to Green Bay 28-26. They've been right there with the Giants, Jets, Buffalo and last week against the Bears. You have to think an upset is eventually going to happen.
8. Minnesota Dumps The Giants
3 of 10
Current Vegas odds: New York by 2
The Vikings seem to be better under interim coach Leslie Frazier, and will need Brett Favre back to pull this off. Don't be surprised if Minnesota gets aggressive in the air: Three of New York's past four opponents have finished with over 250 yards passing.
7. Titans Take Down Colts
4 of 10
Current Vegas Odds: Indianapolis by 3
The Colts may have the edge because of Peyton Manning, but he's also the reason behind their struggles. This team has absolutely no ground game.
6. Bills Beat The Browns
5 of 10
Current Vegas Odds: Buffalo by 1
Quarterback Colt McCoy could miss another week with an ankle injury, giving Jake Delhomme another chance to start. Delhomme's still a capable backup, but not near as dangerous as McCoy. Buffalo has hung with some of the NFL's best, and recently dropped 49 points on lowly Cincinnati.
5. Chargers Upset Chiefs
6 of 10
Current Vegas Odds: San Diego by 6.5
I definitely didn't expect San Diego to lose to Oakland. Now the Chargers are in a must-win situation against the Chiefs, who won the first meeting 21-14. Philip Rivers should attack a defense that is allowing 233 yards passing per game.
4. Washington Beats The Bucs
7 of 10
Current Vegas Odds: Tampa Bay by 2
Donovan McNabb always gives the 'Skins a chance, but what do you bet Washington has a little extra pep now that Albert Haynesworth is out of the picture?
3. Oakland Edges Jacksonville
8 of 10
Current Vegas Odds: Jacksonville by 4.5
The Raiders showed what they're capable of last week, and need to carry it over.
2. Bears Beat The Patriots
9 of 10
Current Vegas Odds: New England by 3
If there's a defense that could hang with the Patriots, you've got to go with Chicago's.
1. Cowboys Shock Philly
10 of 10
Current Vegas Odds: Eagles by 3.5
Dallas won't have Dez Bryant, but Tashard Choice also reminded them just what a capable and talented player he is last week. Jason Garrett would be wise to utilize him.
