NFL Trade Rumors: Donovan McNabb and 15 Players Who Could Be Traded Before 2011

Adam WellsDec 8, 2010

As the NFL season moves along we being to hear more and more about players who are unsatisfied in their current situation and want a change. We also hear about teams that are using the last four weeks to evaluate every player on their current roster. Teams have found young, cheap talent that can replace an older, expensive veteran player so they can afford to make a move. Here are 15 players who could be traded in the offseason.

Donovan McNabb, OB, Washington Redskins

The Donovan McNabb era in Washington has not been the greatest in franchise history. He has been pulled from games because his coach doesn't think that he knows how to run the 2-minute offense. The writing seems to be on the wall for McNabb in Washington.

Albert Haynesworth, DT, Washington Redskins

If the writing is on the wall for McNabb in Washington then there is graffiti and debris thrown everywhere for Albert Haynesworth's career as a Redskin. He could have been moved earlier in the year when the Titans offered a fourth-round draft pick for the outspoken defensive lineman. He has been suspended for the final four game of the year due to conduct detrimental to the team and he is refusing to speak to head coach Mike Shanahan. One way or another, Haynesworth's time with the Redskins is coming to an end.

Chad Henne, OB, Miami Dolphins

Chad Henne showed a lot of promise last year and the Dolphins were more than happy to give him the starting QB position for 2010. He hasn't really progressed and has made a lot of bad decisions this year. He lost his job a few weeks ago but got it back when replacement QB Chad Pennington was injured. If Henne doesn't show some progress in these last few weeks the Dolphins will likely look to make a change at the position.

Vincent Jackson hasn't played this year due to a contract holdout, and a suspension for drunk driving. He is currently on a one-year deal and is unhappy with the Chargers treatment of him. He is only 27 years old and is one of the most talented receivers in football so finding a taker for him shouldn't be too hard. I

Vince Wilfork, DT, New England Patriots

He is one of the best nose tackles in football, he is only 29 years old, and he just signed a 5-year extension before the season. However, don't be surprised if the Patriots at least gauge interest in the outspoken lineman. He was critical of the team's handling of his contract situation and made it known that he would love to play for a Florida team. Plus, New England will not hesitate to move anyone (with the possible exception of Tom Brady) if the right deal comes along.

LaDainian Tomlinson, RB, New York Jets

LT has had a very nice bounce back year after some rough years in San Diego. He is signed to a very manageable contract through next year. If the Jets could flip Tomlinson for a high draft pick, don't be surprised if he gets moved.

Champ Bailey, CB, Denver Broncos

Champ Bailey is still one of the best cornerbacks in football. But he is 32 years old and will enter the final year of his contract next year. Plus, the Broncos are a disaster and need to rebuild their entire franchise. Bailey is still good enough that he will bring in a good haul if you try and move him sooner rather than later.

Thomas Jones, RB, Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs have a great running game led by Jamaal Charles. Thomas Jones is a nice change of pace running back but they could decide that Charles is good enough on his own and they can find a good back up cheaper then Jones. He is still a solid runner and is signed through 2011 so a team in need of help at the RB position could make the Chiefs an offer for Jones.

Jason Campbell, QB, Oakland Raiders

Jason Campbell has fallen out of favor with the Raiders and they seem to like Bruce Gradkowski at the position. They will likely give Gradkowski every chance to win the starting position before 2011. If they do they could move Campbell, who has been a disappointment for the Raiders this year.

Marcus Spears, DE, Dallas Cowboys

Marcus Spears has fallen out of favor in Dallas and he has never lived up to the expectations he had coming out of LSU. The Cowboys could look to upgrade their D-line, either via free agency or the draft, and that could make Spears expendable.

Brandon Jacobs, RB, New York Giants

One half of the thunder-and-lightning tandem that the Giants have built at running back, Brandon Jacobs has been outspoken about his desire to be featured more then he is in New York. Things have quieted down with Jacobs now but don't be surprised if the Giants at least look into moving the bruising running back.

Todd Heap, TE, Baltimore Ravens

Todd Heap could be on his way out of Baltimore after this season. His production hasn't declined a whole lot but he is getting older and the Ravens are reportedly very high on their two young tight ends, Dennis Pitta and Ed Dickson. If they show something in the final four weeks of the season the Ravens could move Heap.

Roy Williams, WR, Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys gave up a lot to get Roy Williams from the Lions. He has fallen far from grace during his time with the Cowboys and they appear to have found a budding star in Dez Bryant. Williams makes too much money to be a backup so the Cowboys will likely do anything that they can to get something for Williams.

Pierre Thomas, RB, New Orleans Saints

The Saints have found a running game with Charles Ivory. They like Reggie Bush at the flex position, as a RB-WR hybrid. That leaves Pierre Thomas as the odd-man out. The Saints can gauge interest in the running back in the offseason and get a decent draft pick for him, if they choose to move him.

Tim Tebow, QB, Denver Broncos

This is likely the biggest long-shot on the list because he is only a rookie. However, he was drafted by a coach that was just fired and the new regime that comes in will have a number of decisions to make. If they look at Tim Tebow and think that he can't be an NFL QB they could try to flip him to fill some need that they have.
