NFL Picks Week 14: Dallas Cowboys and Other Teams That Could Produce Upsets
As parity abounds in the NFL this season, there are always chances for upsets.
Injuries can occur, players can have career days, the officials could blow a call or something else could happen and the underdog could easily come away with a win.
It happens every week and this week will be no different.
While teams like the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons seem to be safe from any threat of an upset right now thanks to their dominant play, other teams might be much more susceptible.
Read on to find out which teams could produce an upset in Week 14 of the NFL season.
Tennessee Titans
1 of 6
The Tennessee Titans play the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday night and will be looking to give Peyton Manning yet another loss.
Each team has lost a bunch of games in a row: five for the Titans and three for the Colts. They each hope to stop their slides this week.
Tennessee has been embarrassed in their last few games and could use that as added motivation when playing a team that they always play tough.
Peyton Manning has been atrocious in his last three games, throwing 11 interceptions. With young receivers and a team depleted by injuries, there's no reason to think this ugly trend couldn't continue.
Plus, there's the chance that Chris Johnson breaks out of his slump.
Detroit Lions
2 of 6
Even though Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers have had the upper hand in this series for quite some time now, the Lions have a chance.
Detroit keeps getting tantalizingly close to wins, yet finding ways to lose games in the waning moments of the fourth quarter.
Even though they let the Bears escape last week when Jay Cutler threw a seven-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Manumaleuna, they have to be encouraged by the game.
Drew Stanton faced a tough defense and scored both through the air and on the ground.
Calvin Johnson always makes plays and Ndamukong Suh could single-handedly destroy the Packers offensive line.
A divisional upset could be in the works here.
Oakland Raiders
3 of 6
The Oakland Raiders, at 6-6, are still in the hunt for a playoff berth and take on the first-place Jacksonville Jaguars.
Even though the Jaguars are 7-5 and leading the AFC South, they've been outscored on the season by their opponents. That's a pretty rare stat for a division-leading team.
The Raiders have the speed to burn the Jaguars' porous secondary early and often, especially by using Jacoby Ford.
Darren McFadden has also been incredible as of late. He's third in the entire NFL in yards from scrimmage with 122.1 per game.
Oakland has scored more points and allowed fewer so far this year, making an upset quite possible.
Minnesota Vikings
4 of 6
While the New York Giants are 8-4 and the Minnesota Vikings are 5-7, the Giants shouldn't look ahead and consider this game an easy win. There's no such thing as an easy win in the NFL.
Adrian Peterson is on a tear of late and that could continue this week. He's one of the most talented running backs in the league and never easily stopped.
The Vikings have also won two straight games, just as many as the Giants, thanks to the inspired play under interim head coach Leslie Frazier.
New York is at its best when Brandon Jacobs and the running game gets going, but the Vikings have proved to be a solid defensive team against the run.
And since it's against the law to write a slide about the Minnesota Vikings without mentioning Brett Favre, the aged quarterback will most likely play again this week and we all know that he has a flair for the dramatic.
St. Louis Rams
5 of 6
Both the St. Louis Rams and the New Orleans Saints consider this game to be very important, as they're both trying to establish firm grasps on playoff spots.
The Saints would stay in the division race and gain the advantage in the Wild Card race with a win while the Rams would start to take control of the weak NFC West.
St. Louis is fresh off of back-to-back wins and Sam Bradford is only getting better as his rookie season progresses. Plus, Steven Jackson has had five straight games with touchdowns against the Saints.
As for New Orleans, they've won their last two games in nail-biting fashion on late drives. They could be due for a bit of a slip-up.
Dallas Cowboys
6 of 6
Even though Dallas is just 4-8 and out of the playoff race, they would still love to beat Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Cowboys have two big things going for them in terms of momentum right now.
First is the inspired play of the team under interim head coach Jason Garrett. The team seems to genuinely like him, respect him and want to play hard for him.
Then there's the fact that they're going to be riding an emotional high of picking off Peyton Manning four times last week and getting the victory in overtime.
The Eagles on the other hand have to be disappointed after the last two weeks. They were beaten by the Chicago Bears and then played far too close a game against the Houston Texans.
