NFL Week 14 Picks: Predictions for Every Game

Bleacher ReportDec 7, 2010

NFL Week 14 picks are being predicted by oddsmakers and experts across the nation. As teams jockey for playoff positions or gear up for a run at the postseason, games are played even tighter across the NFL. Here are picks against the spread for NFL Week 14 games.

Indianapolis at Tennessee, Thursday, 8:20 p.m.

Favored: Indianapolis -3

Pick: Indianapolis

After three straight horrific showings, expect Peyton Manning to bounce back against the soft Titans pass defense. Colts win and cover.

Cleveland at Buffalo, Sunday, 1:00 p.m.

Favored: Buffalo -1

Pick: Buffalo

An interesting one-point spread is an easy bet with this game being played in Buffalo. While Peyton Hillis’ ground prowess is tough to beat, the Bills are playing good football and can mix a strong passing game with the rushing of Fred Jackson. Buffalo wins a close game, but by the margin of more than two points.

Green Bay at Detroit, Sunday 1:00 p.m.

Favored: Green Bay -7

Pick: Detroit

The Lions’ chances of winning outright will depend heavily on which Aaron Rodgers shows up, but the Lions are strong enough to spoil a seven-point spread any way you slice it—especially at home.

Tampa Bay at Washington, Sunday 1:00 p.m.

Favored: Tampa Bay -2

Pick: Tampa Bay

The Buccaneers will win and cover the measly two-point difference. With Washington reeling and completely without the services of Albert Haynesworth, who was shut down for the remainder of the season, Tampa Bay’s playoff hopes remain alive with a win.

Oakland at Jacksonville, Sunday 1:00 p.m.

Favored: Jacksonville -4.5

Pick: Oakland

The inconsistent Raiders are due for a turnaround game with Darren McFadden leading the way. Even if they don’t win, expect the Raiders to be within a field goal.

Atlanta at Carolina, Sunday 1:00 p.m.

Favored: Atlanta -7.5

Pick: Atlanta

There is no hotter team in the NFC than the Falcons. The Panthers may be the worst team in the NFL.

NY Giants at Minnesota, Sunday 1:00 p.m.

Favored: NY Giants -2

Pick: NY Giants

With a leg still in the NFC playoff race, the Giants can easily handle the Vikings by the margin of a field goal.

Cincinnati at Pittsburgh, Sunday 1:00 p.m.

Favored: Pittsburgh -9

Pick: Pittsburgh

If this game was in Cincinnati, it would be an extremely tough decision as the nine-point spread is tough for any conference matchup regardless of the teams involved. Given the Steelers’ strong play at home, though, expect them to cover in a low-scoring game.

St. Louis at New Orleans, Sunday 4:05 p.m.

Favored: New Orleans -9

Pick: St. Louis

Coming off two straight wins, the Rams are playing tough. While they may not be tough enough to knock off the defending Super Bowl champs, their comfort level playing inside is enough to keep it close.

Seattle at San Francisco, Sunday 4:05 p.m.

Favored: San Francisco

Pick: Seattle

Even at home, the 49ers are just .500. After a season-opening, 31-6 loss to Seattle, San Francisco falls again.

Kansas City at San Diego, Sunday 4:15 p.m.

Favored: San Diego -7

Pick: Kansas City

Coming off a string of impressive offensive outputs, the Chiefs returned back to reality last week. To stay in the playoff race, they’ll need strong play on both sides of the ball against the red-hot Chargers. Expect just enough offense to keep this game closer than eight point.

New England at Chicago, Sunday 4:15 p.m.

Favored: New England -3

Pick: New England

The weather report in Chicago for Sunday is bound to say: cold and windy. The Patriots just put up 45 points on the Jets in the same conditions. Expect the Patriots to cover and then some behind the play of red-hot Tom Brady.

Miami at NY Jets, Sunday 4:15 p.m.

Favored: NY Jets -5.5

Pick: NY Jets

After the embarrassment caused in a horrific Monday Night Football loss to New England, the Jets need to save face and build confidence for the postseason. A two-touchdown win is not out of the questions against the inconsistent Dolphins.

Denver at Arizona, Sunday 4:15 p.m.

Favored: Denver -3.5

Pick: Arizona

With both teams reeling, one must guess which team has dug themselves a deeper hole. By virtue of playing in front of the home crowd, Arizona keeps it to no less than a field goal and may win outright.

Philadelphia at Dallas, Sunday 8:20 p.m.

Favored: Philadelphia -3

Pick: Philadelphia

Sure, Dallas is playing its best football of the season. It’s still not enough to overcome Michael Vick.

Baltimore at Houston, Monday 8:30 p.m.

Favored: Baltimore -3

Pick: Baltimore

Defense, defense, defense. Simply put, the Ravens can slow down the Texans explosive offense. But the Texans defense has no chance at stopping Ray Rice, Joe Flacco and the Ravens.
