Sidney Rice, Donald Driver & The Top 10 Most Amazing Plays of Week 13

Scott AltmanDec 7, 2010

Week 13 is officially in the books, and improbable as it sounds, the playoff picture is still as foggy as a San Francisco morning.

The only team that currently possesses more than a one game cushion at the throne of their division is the Kansas City Chiefs (who would've thought), who currently hold a two-game lead over the surging Chargers.

Outside of that, however, things are just flat out bananas. And, fittingly, with such a crazy season comes a whole volume of even crazier plays. Here's the top 10 most incredible plays from the week that was.

No. 10: Sean Lee Makes Peyton Manning Look Like The Rookie

1 of 10

It isn't often a rookie linebacker actually makes Peyton Manning look like a rookie, but Penn State rookie linebacker Sean Lee did just that. Twice.

Lee took this one back to the house and later intercepted Manning on a zany deflection.

No. 9: Sammie Stroughter Sees With His Hands

2 of 10

I guarantee you will watch this clip multiple times.

Sammie Stroughter literally makes this catch blind. And not only it is an incredible catch by Stroughter and throw by Josh Freeman, but it keps Tampa Bay's eventually-failed game-winning drive alive.

No. 8: Taj Smith Does It All

3 of 10

"How ya'll doin' up there? Ya'll doin' all right? 10, Taj Smith, that's my nephew out there. That boy can play some football. He can play left, he can play right, don't make no difference. He can block, tackle, score the touch down, snap the ball and kick the extra point. Hell, the boy will fill up the Gatorade cooler, walk the dog and paint your back porch. I'm telling ya, the boy can plain out play football."

(Friday Night Lights reference, for those of you unfortunate enough to have never seen it.)

No. 7: Eric Weems Saves The Falcons Days

4 of 10

Seriously? Can somebody please explain to me how Eric Weems does not fly out of bounds here? It looks like he defies the laws of physics.

By my count, Weems makes six Buccaneers look silly.

No. 6: All Day Takes It All The Way To The End Zone

5 of 10

Lost in his bulldozer and workhorse reputation is Adrian Peterson's speed. It seems as though we all forgot that even at 6'1'' and 217 pounds, Peterson is also one of the fastest players in the NFL.

Bills safety Jairus Byrd literally has a perfect angle to take Peterson down, but A.P. makes him and his Bills teammates look like a group of high school players. But then again, maybe they are...

No. 5: Double Whammy: Jason Baker Erases Leon Washington's Gem

6 of 10

First off, let us begin by praising Leon Washington for an incredible return. He literally looks like he is shot ouf of cannon once the punt lands into his arm and his field vision is impeccable. Also, remember that he suffered one of the most gruesome leg-breaks possible just one year ago.

But the real reason this play is so awesome is the hustle by Panthers punter Jason Baker. How many times do you actually see punters completely pursue a returner? And his timing on the foot swipe is absolutely perfect.

This will go do in the NFL follies archives, but give Baker some serious cred.

No. 4: Troy Polamalu Rips The Ravens

7 of 10

Is it the "Head & Shoulders" and the luscious volume it adds to Troy's hair? Or is Troy Polamalu just a beast amongst men?

It seems like Polamalu makes this game-breaking plays every week, and this one essentially won the Steelers a crucial game against their arch rivals. At this rate, it is plays like these that will land Polamalu in the Hall of Fame.

No. 3: Megatron Destroys The Chicago-Bots

8 of 10

Shouldn't the Lions just give Calvin Johnson the ball every play?

After all, he is a droid from a foreign planet capable of morphing into pure metal and machinery, right?

No. 2: Sidney Rice Does His Best Randy Moss Impression

9 of 10

Somebody please explain to me how Sidney Rice and not one of the two Bills defenders caught this. Rice completely "Mosses" one defender and then proceeds to essentially steal the ball from the other while in flight.

Candidate for catch of the year?

No. 1: Donald Drives Over The 49ers Defense

10 of 10

Even at age 35, Donald Driver is among the league's most consistent and most physical wide receivers. Beyond that, he can get acrobatic.

But on Sunday, Driver went into "Truck You" mode and made the entire city of San Francisco look silly.

Had he broken only one of the tackles he managed to dodge on this play, it might have still been one of the best of the week. But maneuvering through all four en route to a touchdown will put this on the best plays of the year.
