Josh McDaniels Fired: Possible Replacements for the Denver Broncos in 2011
The Denver Broncos fired Josh McDaniels on Monday after two seasons of disappointment and controversy. Who will be the next head coach of this famous organization?
The head coaching crop could be deep this year, especially with certain coaches coming out from the broadcast set along with veteran coaches looking for other opportunities.
Here is my list of the top possible candidates the Broncos should consider.

Jason Garrett

The possibility of Jason Garrett going to the Broncos seems unlikely. However, suppose Jerry Jones is interested in going after a big-name coach.
Garrett could easily become the number one target for the Broncos. Not only is he an offensive genius, but unlike Josh McDaniels, he seems to have the qualities of being a head coach.
In his "tryout" with the Cowboys thus far, Garrett has earned respect from his veteran team due to his ability to work the team hard, week in and week out.
It is unlikely that this move happens, but if available Garrett will be a big target for Denver.
Marty Schottenheimer

Another interesting candidate to keep an eye out for is Marty Schottenheimer.
Schottenheimer has been rumored to be interested in returning to coaching the last few years. Only a few seasons ago he led the Chargers to the top seed in the AFC before falling out with management.
Bringing in a head coach with plenty of experience may be what this Broncos organization needs.
Brian Billick

Brian Billick is another veteran coach who has been rumored to be interesting in getting back in the business.
Just like Schottenheimer, Billick has made multiple playoff appearances while with the Ravens and could be another veteran option for the Broncos.
Leslie Frazier

Lezlie Frazier is 2-0 in his tryout with the Vikings thus far. I have a feeling that the Vikings may go in another direction at head coach, leaving Frazier available for hire.
Frazier could be another guy the Broncos are interested in. He is young, brings energy and respect within the locker room, and his ability to put together a successful defensive plan could make the Broncos a playoff team in the AFC West.
Bob Stoops

My wild card of all NFL head coaching searches is Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops.
Stoops has been rumored to become an NFL head coach for quite a few years. We saw Pete Carrol do it last year, so why not him?
His program continues to be one of the best, but its lack of a national championship and the ineffectiveness in big games could result in him bolting to an NFL team.
I wouldn't be too surprised to see the Broncos pull the trigger on Stoops.
John Fox

Despite the horrible season the Carolina Panthers are having, John Fox is still a candidate that will interest a team like the Broncos.
Fox took a low-market team like the Panthers to multiple playoff seasons, including one appearance at the Super Bowl.
I can see owner Pat Bowlen bringing in a coach like Fox who, despite the struggles this season, has brought together competitive teams with the lack of talent he has dealt with.
Jeff Fisher

The run of Jeff Fisher at Tennessee seems to be nearing an end.
Fisher realizes the owner is at odds with him regarding the future of Vince Young and knows there will be other teams knocking at his door for him to become their head coach.
The Denver Broncos could be the team that makes a play for him. The physical style of play Fisher wants to institute among his players could lead him to being high on the Broncos' wish list.
Jon Gruden

Jon Gruden has been linked to every possible head coaching vacancy for weeks now. Why can't Denver be the answer for the Super Bowl-winning coach?
Gruden brings instant credibility to the Broncos. Under Gruden, the Broncos could be a very disciplined football team who can succeed with Kyle Orton as the quarterback.
Gruden made the Raiders into a Super Bowl contender and could certainly do the same for another AFC West team.
