Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
New York Jets (Jets Schedule)
Opponent Defensive Ranks
New England Pass Defense – 2010: Yards Allowed/Game 32nd - TDs Allowed T-26th
New England Rush Defense – 2010: Yards Allowed/Game 16th – TDs Allowed T-20th
New York Jets Offensive Cast
Mark Sanchez (QB Week 13 Ranking: No. 10)
2010 Season: 201/364 – for 2,472 yards and 16 TDs
Sanchez went for 220 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions in their first meeting back in Week 2, a performance that also happened to be Sanchez’s first three-TD game of his career. New England’s pass D is among the worst in the league, so it wouldn’t surprise me to see somewhere around the same stats in this Monday night showdown.
LaDainian Tomlinson (RB Week 13 Ranking: No. 23)
2010 Season: 166 carries for 741 yards and five TDs || 45 receptions for 329 yards and no TDs
With LT21 and Greene splitting carries so evenly nowadays, it’s tough to put either one of them within the RB1-RB2 status. That said, LaDainian gets the nod here over Greene due to the likelihood that the Jets will be forced to pass more in this one.
Shonn Greene (RB Week 13 Ranking: No. 31)
2010 Season: 140 carries for 575 yards and one TD || Nine receptions for 69 yards and no TDs
Greene will likely get around 15 carries in this game like he did in the first one, so don’t expect too grand of a showing this Monday night.
Santonio Holmes (WR Week 13 Ranking: No. 12)
2010 Season: 32 receptions for 491 yards and four TDs
This game has all the makings of a classic, and what usually happens in games like this? The best players come out to play and give the world a show. Santonio is that guy for the Jets, so expect a nice little showing out of the former Super Bowl MVP this week.
Braylon Edwards (WR Week 13 Ranking: No. 20)
2010 Season: 35 receptions for 618 yards and six TDs
Holmes won’t be the only one getting in on the fun with the Patriots having one of the worst pass defenses in the league. Bray had five catches for 45 yards and a TD in the first contest, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see that much and more come Monday.
Jerricho Cotchery (WR Week 13 Ranking: Not ranked)
2010 Season: 29 receptions for 315 yards and two TDs
It looks like Jerricho will suit up for the big game, but his reps will likely be limited in order to keep him from pushing his groin injury.
Dustin Keller (TE Week 13 Ranking: No. 7)
2010 Season: 39 receptions for 528 yards and five TDs
Keller had a MONSTER game against the Pats in the first contest going off for seven catches, 115 yards and a TD. Will he repeat those numbers? Not bloody likely, but he could be in line for his best outing in two months.
New England Patriots (Patriots Schedule)
Opponent Defensive Ranks
New York Jets Pass Defense – 2010: Yards Allowed/Game 12th - TDs Allowed T-11th
New York Jets Rush Defense – 2010: Yards Allowed/Game fourth – TDs Allowed T-eighth
New England Offensive Cast
Tom Brady (QB Week 13 Ranking: No. 8)
2010 Season: 236/356 – for 2,703 yards and 23 TDs
Brady is one of the best big-game players if our generation, so I expect nothing less than a stellar performance out of him in this one. My guess is that he’ll at least surpass the numbers he put up in the first game between these two (248 yards, two TDs).
BenJarvus Green-Ellis (RB Week 13 Ranking: No. 21)
2010 Season: 145 carries for 627 yards and nine TDs || Seven receptions for 57 yards and no TDs
The Pats couldn’t run worth a lick versus the Jets in the first game, but Belichick likely has something up his sleeve for The Firm this week. At the very least, if the Pats get down around the goal-line, BenJarvus is awesome at hitting paydirt.
Danny Woodhead (RB Week 13 Ranking: Not ranked)
2010 Season: 64 carries for 344 yards and three TDs || 24 receptions for 230 yards and one TD
I am going to repeat this statement until he’s recognized as a household name: The records this kid set at both his high school in North Platte, Wis. and at his D-II school at Chadron State College are simply staggering.
I mean Madden 2011-style staggering. As in the kid averaged 183 rushing yards/game over FOUR YEARS at Chadron State (212.0 was his highest average in his junior year) and had 109 total TDs during that time (38 was his most in his junior year).
He rushed for more than 200 yards in a game 19 of his 39 appearances and scored in 37 straight contests, both NCAA records. Just to top it all off, Woodhead also ran track in high school for one year and broke his school’s 100-meter record with a time of 10.5 seconds. Undrafted in the NFL or not, this kid is special.
Fred Taylor (RB Week 13 Ranking: Not ranked)
2010 Season: 25 carries for 98 yards and no TDs || Two receptions for six yards and no TDs
I can’t even remember what Fred looks like at this point.
Wes Welker (WR Week 13 Ranking: No. 19)
2010 Season: 65 receptions for 592 yards and six TDs
Welker had six catches and a TD in their first game this year, but I expect even better than that as he’ll be counted on quite a bit to move the ball this Monday night. Since joining the Pats back in 2007, Welker has a reputation of coming up big against the Jets, a trend that should continue in Week 13.
Deion Branch (WR Week 13 Ranking: Not ranked)
2010 Season: 46 receptions for 545 yards and four TDs
Branch exploded on Thanksgiving to the tune of 113 yards and two TDs, but I’m not expecting anywhere close to that with either Revis Island or Cromartie Canyon shadowing him all game long.
Brandon Tate (WR Week 13 Ranking: Not ranked)
2010 Season: 18 receptions for 301 yards and one TD
Tate isn’t getting enough targets to be worth having on your team at this point, much less actually starting him.
Aaron Hernandez (TE Week 13 Ranking: No. 9)
2010 Season: 36 receptions for 462 yards and three TDs
This could end up being a battle of the tight ends once again like it was back in Week 2. Like Dustin Keller did in the first game, Hernandez went off in the first game for career-highs of six catches and 101 yards. My guess is that the Pats will run out a two-tight end set for most of the game with Rob Gronkowski acting as the blocker for most of the game, so Hernandez could be in line for a bunch of targets in this one.
Rob Gronkowski (TE Week 13 Ranking: Not ranked)
2010 Season: 25 receptions for 310 yards and six TDs
Being 6’6”, 265 pounds has its advantages for a tight end, but with a strong Jets pass-rush likely coming at Brady in this game, my guess is that Rob will be used as more of a blocker in this one.
