WWE: An Analysis of Recent Events in World Wrestling Entertainment

The Doctor Chris MuellerDec 6, 2010

Hey everybody.  It's been awhile since I have written anything on Bleacher Report, but I wanted to stop by and weigh in on some of the recent events in the WWE.

Miz as WWE Champion

I am very happy to see The Miz as WWE Champion for a couple of reasons.  The first and most important reason is that he is a true example of working hard to get where you want to be.

I watched The Miz back when he was on the Real World and I remember him talking about wanting to be in the WWE.  I even remember the last shot of the season being him running through the empty house with a replica belt he had bought at a costume shop.

Now years later he is on top of the wrestling world, and while many may thingk he is undeserving, no one can deny that he worked his butt of to get where he is.  Miz is a shining example of determination in a business that values family connection.

Miz being champion also gives off a better impression that anyone can become champion at any time given the right circumstances.  For so long people complained about the main event scene having the same guys, well those days are gone and we have new guys getting pushed every month it would seem.

WWE is in a transition phase.  Having lost some of their biggest names over th past few years they are beginning to create new stars who will carry the company through 2020.

John Cena and Nexus

John Cena getting fired was an interesting storyline until he showed up the very next week to cause trouble for Nexus.

If you want to do a successful firing angle have him off TV for a couple weeks, have him make appearances in towns where WWE is not producing shows to give off the impression that he is truly gone, and then when the time is right you have him make his triumphant return.

MVP getting released

This saddened me as MVP was one of those guys who I was sure would become a World Champion within a year or two.  He has charisma to spare, great ring work and has been great on the mic since day one.

When MVP first showed up the WWE put so much effort behind his push.  His feud with Matt Hardy over the US championship was what kept me watching Smackdown.

I understand that MVP asked for his release and was thankful it was granted to him, but what I don't get is why the WWE stopped pushing him.  They threw him in a team with MArk Henry, gave them matching singlets, and then broke them up a month later.  That is usually a bad sign.

MVP needs to refresh himself by wrestling in ROH or in Japan, and then he needs to come back to WWE and become the World Champion he deserves to be.

Undertaker, Kane, Paul Bearer and Edge

I thought the way the feud with Kane and the Undertaker was executed was great.  It made Kane look stronger than he ever has in his career while not diminishing the Undertaker.

now Edge is embroiled in a feud with Kane, and he has Paul Bearer as a hostage.  I don't necessarily like how Kane can go from being dominant over the WWE's deadman to becoming a gulible victim of Edge.

I like Edge a lot, but I don't think the WWE should be portraying him as being able to beat a man the Undertaker couldn't beat three times in a row so easily.

I hope Kane wins at TLC and has a different feud going forward because WWE doesn't seem to have any continuity with the current feud.

Michael Cole

I wanted to give Cole his own section because I feel ike he deserves it.  Michael Cole went from being my most hated announcer to being one of the more interesting characters on WWE tv.

His heel persona fits well with what the fans already thought of Cole, and by having him cost Lawler the Title against Miz he cemented his place in WWE as a heel announcer.

I hope the WWE doesn't abandon this character change like they have with so many other people in the past.

Well that's all for now folks, I hope everyone is having a good day and I will be back sonn.
