In The Battle Of Britain, England Will Always Win
No, don't worry this article is not some propaganda piece some 70 years late, it refers to the battles between British football teams on the rare occasion they meet.
More specifically, this is to do with the meetings between Scottish and English teams, and why I think the English teams will nearly always come out on top.
Recently, Manchester United and Celtic were drawn together in the Champions League. OK, so I wouldn't be surprised to see Celtic get something out of at least one of the games, but put them in an environment like the English Premier League and I don't think there will be any contest.

On more than one occasion, people have talked about merging the SPL and the EPL. The fact is that only two, maybe three of the current SPL teams would still be in that league after five years or so.
Even Celtic and Rangers, the teams that have been dominating Scottish football almost since it's inception, would have trouble making mid-table I think.
Yes, Scottish football is getting stronger, their national team is now just one place behind England in the latest FIFA rankings, but English football is growing faster.
I would say that Man. Utd., Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton, Man City, Blackburn, Portsmouth, Tottenham, Newcastle and Aston Villa are at least as good as Celtic and Rangers, some are better.
Of course, Rangers' fantastic UEFA Cup run last season goes against this, but they didn't meet any English clubs along the way, and if they did, they may not have gotten all the way to the final.
An example of the quality difference of the two leagues is seen in Kenny Miller. Last season he struggle to get into the Derby side which went on to become the worst side to ever play in the Premier League.
Before that he played regularly for Celtic, and since he has appeared three times for Rangers.
Now, I'm not suggesting that Rangers and Celtic are worse than Derby, but for me that shows the difference in quality between players in the SPL and players in the EPL.
I hope the SPL and EPL never join together, because before long it will just be the current Premier League, with Celtic and Rangers added, fighting desperately for UEFA Cup spots.
