Carolina Panthers (Panthers Schedule)
Opponent Defensive Ranks
Seattle Pass Defense – 2010: Yards Allowed/Game 30th - TDs Allowed T-23rd
Seattle Rush Defense – 2010: Yards Allowed/Game 22nd – TDs Allowed T-24th
Carolina Offensive Cast
Jimmy Clausen (QB Week 13 Ranking: Not ranked)
2010 Season: 83/166 – for 887 yards & 1 TD
Don’t even think about it, even against a crappy Seattle pass D.
Jonathan Stewart (RB Week 13 Ranking: No. 30)
2010 Season: 81 carries for 306 yards & 1 TD || 5 receptions for 85 yards & 1 TD
Stewart looked good last week against the Browns and will likely get the lion’s share of the carries against this week. Though he’s been a major disappointment so far this year, he does have the talent to reel off a nice fantasy game at any given moment. Take a chance if you need to.
Mike Goodson (RB Week 13 Ranking: No. 26)
2010 Season: 75 carries for 325 yards & 1 TD || 33 receptions for 265 yards & 0 TDs
With Stewart back, Goodson loses a bunch of fantasy value, but not all is lost on the kid. The Panthers could be fighting for points in this one and have to turn to the passing game. If that happens, Goody should be able to reel in a whole bunch of yardage as he’s still being used as the passing-down RB.
Steve Smith (WR Week 13 Ranking: Not ranked)
2010 Season: 36 receptions for 444 yards & 2 TDs
Smitty isn’t worth starting in fantasy leagues anymore with rookie Jimmy Clausen back at the helm, even against one of the worst pass Ds in the league like the Seahawks have.
David Gettis (WR Week 13 Ranking: Not ranked)
2010 Season: 25 receptions for 400 yards & 3 TDs
…and if you can’t start Smitty, then you definitely can’t start Gettis.
Brandon LaFell (WR Week 13 Ranking: Not ranked)
2010 Season: 22 receptions for 301 yards & 1 TD
…likewise for LaFell.
Dante Rosario (TE Week 13 Ranking: Not ranked)
2010 Season: 24 receptions for 203 yards & 0 TDs
Seriously now. Not unless you’re playing in a 24-team league, and even then…
Seattle Seahawks (Seahawks Schedule)
Opponent Defensive Ranks
Carolina Pass Defense – 2010: Yards Allowed/Game T-7th - TDs Allowed T-11th
Carolina Rush Defense – 2010: Yards Allowed/Game 25th – TDs Allowed T-24th
Seattle Offensive Cast
Matt Hasselbeck (QB Week 13 Ranking: Not ranked)
2010 Season: 209/351 – for 2,392 yards & 10 TDs
Hasselbeck has actually been making some fantasy noise lately tossing up two 300-yard games and one multi-TD game over the last three weeks. Still, I wouldn’t take the chance unless you absolutely have to.
Marshawn Lynch (RB Week 13 Ranking: No. 29)
2010 Season: 125 carries for 437 yards & 2 TDs || 12 receptions for 81 yards & 0 TDs
Carolina’s rush D is pretty darn porous, so Lynch might be able to squeeze out some pretty good fantasy numbers this weekend.
Justin Forsett (RB Week 13 Ranking: Not ranked)
2010 Season: 96 carries for 409 yards & 2 TDs || 25 receptions for 209 yards & 0 TDs
Forsett just isn’t seeing enough action to make a difference on your fantasy team right now.
Mike Williams (WR Week 13 Ranking: Not ranked)
2010 Season: 52 receptions for 654 yards & 1 TD
It’s not looking good for Big Mike Williams and his foot problem again this week, though it looks like he will end up suiting up. Keep an eye on the news to make sure, but even if he does, he’ll be too hobbled to take a chance on.
Ben Obomanu (WR Week 13 Ranking: No. 21)
2010 Season: 20 receptions for 390 yards & 4 TDs
Obomanu has burst onto the scene with three TDs in the past four weeks capped off by a 159-yard performance last week against the Chiefs. Hasselbeck seems to have taken a liking to his playmaker, and even with a (gimpy) Big Mike Williams back in the lineup this week, so should you.
Deon Butler (WR Week 13 Ranking: Not ranked)
2010 Season: 27 receptions for 274 yards & 3 TDs
Butler did see nine targets last week as the WR2, but he only caught two of them for a whopping nine yards. Not fantasy-worthy material.
Golden Tate (WR Week 13 Ranking: Not ranked)
2010 Season: 12 receptions for 172 yards & 0 TDs
The Golden Child is back from his injury and could see a nice chunk of playing time the rest of the season, but he likely won’t start to make a fantasy impact until next season.
John Carlson (TE Week 13 Ranking: Not ranked)
2010 Season: 26 receptions for 257 yards & 1 TD
Carlson was supposed to be a major focus for the Seahawks offense this year, with the key phrase being “supposed to be”.
