San Francisco 49ers (49ers Schedule)
Opponent Defensive Ranks
Green Bay Pass Defense– 2010: Yards Allowed/Game 10th - TDs Allowed third
Green Bay Rush Defense– 2010: Yards Allowed/Game 18th – TDs Allowed T-fifth
San Francisco Offensive Cast
Troy Smith (QB Week 13 Ranking: Not ranked)
2010 Season: 56-of-101 for 829 yards and three TDs
It ain’t pretty, but he’s getting the job done…at least for the 49ers. With regards to the fantasy world, don’t even think about it.
Alex Smith (QB Week 13 Ranking: Not ranked)
2010 Season: 143-of-242 for 1,554 yards and nine TDs
Alex can’t seem to buy a break. Oh well, at least the ‘Niners are winning.
Frank Gore (RB Week 13 Ranking: Not ranked)
2010 Season: 203 carries for 853 yards and three TDs || 46 receptions for 452 yards and two TDs
Name the year Gore was healthy enough to play all 16 games. Give up? I’ll give you a hint: It’s not this year. Drop him immediately and pick up Brian Westbrook if he’s still on the waiver wire.
By the way, it was 2006.
Brian Westbrook (RB Week 13 Ranking: No. 25)
2010 Season: 28 carries for 145 yards and one TD || five receptions for 38 yards and zero TDs
Now name the year Westbrook was healthy enough to play all 16 games. I'll give you another hint: It's a trick question.
Westy never thought he was done. His mother never thought he was done. That’s just about the end of the list…until now. The job he did filling in for the injured Gore last week was nothing short of astounding, and though he shouldn’t come close to that sort of output this week against a much better Packers defense, he seems to have the "surprise" factor working in his favor.
Answer to the question: Never
Anthony Dixon (RB Week 13 Ranking: Not ranked)
2010 Season: 24 carries for 72 yards and two TDs || one reception for minus-five yards and zero TDs
Anthony Dixon is a monstrous beast that will, by the end of his career, leave more than a few opposing defenders clutching their pillows with night-sweats just thinking about him. However, in the next handful of games, he’ll probably only grab a couple of TDs away from Westbrook and some decent yardage here and there, but keep him on your radar just in case.
Michael Crabtree (WR Week 13 Ranking: No. 46)
2010 Season: 38 receptions for 509 yards and five TDs
Crabby continues to show a nice rapport with Troy Smith as he hurled in yet another TD pass from him last week from 38-yards out. However, Week 13 will NOT be a lucky one for the youngster. Charles Woodson will be shadowing him all day long on Sunday, and seeing that he held Roddy White to 49 yards on five catches just last weekend, I can’t see Crabby out-performing those numbers by any stretch of the imagination.
Josh Morgan (WR Week 13 Ranking: Not ranked)
2010 Season: 29 receptions for 412 yards and one TD
Josh has a ton of talent, or at least that’s what I’ve been told.
Vernon Davis (TE Week 13 Ranking: No. 8)
2010 Season: 40 receptions for 548 yards and four TDs
Vernon is not the same Vernon that we saw last year. However, he’s still one of the most talented tight ends in the league, and if the Packers have any sort of weak spot on D, it might be in their coverage of opposing tight ends.
Green Bay Packers (Packers Schedule)
Opponent Defensive Ranks
San Francisco Pass Defense– 2010: Yards Allowed/Game 16th - TDs Allowed T-11th
San Francisco Rush Defense– 2010: Yards Allowed/Game 8th – TDs Allowed T-eight
Green Bay Offensive Cast
Aaron Rodgers (QB Week 13 Ranking: No. 1)
2010 Season: 240-of-369 for 2,945 yards and 20 TDs
If he’s not passing it in, he’s running it in. He’s one of the best QBs in the game, both in real life and in the fantasy world, and he rarely ever lets you down. In fact, he’s only had one game with less than 12 fantasy points this season (against the Jets) and none less than 17.2 at home. The Pack will have to throw it against the ‘Niners, which can only mean good things for Aaron "it out" Rodgers owners this weekend.
Brandon Jackson (RB Week 13 Ranking: Not ranked)
2010 Season: 132 carries for 514 yards and three TDs || 32 receptions for 241 yards and one TD
Brandon won’t have a very good time on Sunday trying to sneak through this San Francisco front-seven. Avoid playing him if you can.
Greg Jennings (WR Week 13 Ranking: No. 3)
2010 Season: 51 receptions for 822 yards and nine TDs
Jennings has been a top-three receiver over the past six weeks putting up an average of 6.2 catches, 106.5 yards and six TDs. If there’s one way the 49ers can definitely be beat, it’s through the air, so watch out for another Jennings explosion this weekend.
Donald Driver (WR Week 13 Ranking: No. 48)
2010 Season: 34 receptions for 364 yards and three TDs
Driver may not be at his best right now, but his veteran savvy and hard-nosed determination can more than make up for it. Rodgers should be passing the ball all over the place in this one, so there should be plenty of opportunities for Driver to contribute.
James Jones (WR Week 13 Ranking: No. 26)
2010 Season: 35 receptions for 502 yards and three TDs
With Driver still not quite all the way back, Jones should have no trouble producing at the pace he’s been going at. Look for around 70 yards or so with a possible touchdown thrown in.
Jordy Nelson (WR Week 13 Ranking: Not ranked)
2010 Season: 34 receptions for 362 yards and one TD
Nelson likely gained a whole bunch of confidence from Rodgers last week when he snagged that sideline touchdown bullet to tie the game up with under a minute left against the Falcons. What that will do for him fantasy-wise, I have no idea.
Donald Lee (TE Week 13 Ranking: Not ranked)
2010 Season: Eight receptions for 68 yards and one TD
Lee was a healthy scratch last week. Yep, you’re an idiot if he’s still on your fantasy team.
Andrew Quarless (TE Week 13 Ranking: Not ranked)
2010 Season: 11 receptions for 139 yards and one TD
Quarless has some decent pass-catching skills, but not enough to depend on.
