BCS Predictions Week 1

I will go through the steps explaining each of my picks for the BCS Bowls. These picks are based on the current AP Poll Rankings. When picking a conference champion, I go by the highest ranked team in each conference.

The conference tie-ins are:

Sugar Bowl- SEC

Rose Bowl- Pac-10, Big 10

Fiesta Bowl- Big XII

Orange Bowl- ACC

Picks 1 and 2 always go to the Championship Game

1. USC vs. 2. Georgia (they get this because they are 1 and 2 in the AP Poll)

Now, the Conference Tie-ins come into place

Rose Bowl- Ohio State Buckeyes

Sugar Bowl- None

Fiesta Bowl- Oklahoma Sooners

Orange Bowl- Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Now, the Bowl that lost the top- ranked team to the championship, in this case, the Rose Bowl, picks an at-large team.

Rose Bowl- Florida Gators

I have them picking Florida because they are huge revenue drivers and are a team that would bring an exciting game.

Now, the Sugar Bowl picks an at-large team.

Sugar Bowl- Texas Longhorns

I have the 'Horns leap-frogging Mizzou for the final Big XII spot only because of revenue, which rules the BCS. Longhorn gear is the highest selling after only Notre Dame. The Sugar Bowl is ecstatic to get such a high-profile team.

Now, the selecting goes- Fiesta Bowl, Sugar Bowl, Orange Bowl.

Fiesta Bowl- Wisconsin Badgers

Sugar Bowl- Brigham Young Panthers

Orange Bowl- West Virginia Mountaineers

Final Picks-

Championship- USC/Georgia

Rose Bowl- Ohio State/Florida

Fiesta Bowl- Oklahoma/Wisconsin

Sugar Bowl- Texas/BYU

Orange Bowl- Wake Forest/West Virginia
