Week 13 NFL Positional Rankings: Michael Vick, Dwayne Bowe and Michael Turner on Top

Andrew NortonDec 2, 2010

Rivalry week is in full bloom by Week 13 of the NFL. Baltimore Ravens take on the Pittsburgh Steelers while the New York Jets try to best the New England Patriots for the second time this season. Both of these games have the potential to remain low scoring affairs, but look for the rest of the week to be full of offensive action.

Week 13 brings some of the most lopsided games we've seen so far. Adrian Peterson and the Vikings take on the worst rush defense in the league in the Buffalo Bills.

Michael Vick, DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin draw the Houston Texans, a team giving up 286 yards per game through the air.

The Indianapolis Colts take on the Dallas Cowboys in a game that should put up a lot of stats, The Giants look to take advantage of the lousy Washington Redskins Defense, and the rest (Titans vs. Jaguars, Denver vs. Kansas City, Bears vs. Lions, and Falcons vs. Buccaneers) will all be shootouts.

Without further ado, let's look into the Position Rankings for Week 13 in the NFL...

Week 13 NFL Quarterback Rankings

  1. Michael Vick
  2. Kyle Orton
  3. Drew Brees
  4. Aaron Rodgers
  5. Peyton Manning
  6. Eli Manning
  7. Matt Cassel
  8. Philip Rivers
  9. Tom Brady
  10. Jay Cutler
  11. Josh Freeman
  12. Ryan Fitzpatrick
  13. Matt Ryan
  14. Mark Sanchez
  15. Matt Schaub

Ben Roethlisberger fails to make my list, partly due to injury and partly due to matchup. But mostly, it's Big Ben's history that excludes him from the top 15. The Pittsburgh Steelers rank the lowest in Pass Attempts per game, and Roethlisberger has 15 TDs and 10 INTs with just 205 yards per game in his history against the Ravens. Pittsburgh's offensive line and Ben's cumbersome foot are the reasons he won't break 200 yards in this game.

Kyle Orton draws the No. 2 spot on my list simply by being one of the best Fantasy QBs of the year. Leading the league in yardage, Orton should have little problem lighting up the Kansas City Chiefs in what is sure to be a high scoring affair. His four touchdowns in their last meeting don't hurt either. Expect Orton to break 300 yards for the seventh time this season.

Week 13 NFL Running Back Rankings

  1. Michael Turner
  2. Arian Foster
  3. Adrian Peterson (expect Gerhart to be Top 10 if AP is out)
  4. Chris Johnson
  5. Steven Jackson
  6. Jamaal Charles
  7. Peyton Hillis
  8. Maurice Jones-Drew
  9. Felix Jones
  10. Mike Tolbert
  11. Rashard Mendenhall
  12. Matt Forte
  13. Ahmad Bradshaw
  14. LeSean McCoy
  15. Knowshon Moreno
  16. Ray Rice
  17. Fred Jackson
  18. LaDainian Tomlinson
  19. Brandon Jacobs
  20. Ronnie Brown
  21. Darren McFadden
  22. Cedric Benson
  23. Justin Forsett
  24. Chris Ivory
  25. Brian Westbrook
  26. Mike Goodson
  27. BenJarvus Green-Ellis
  28. Thomas Jones
  29. Jonathan Stewart
  30. Beanie Wells

I'm going to take this time to talk about the sleepers. Whether they are the little guys filling in for the stars, or the RBs that just haven't been able to produce this year, Week 13 has the potential to put some big points in the hands of the sleeper picks. Topping this list are Toby Gerhart, Knowshon Moreno, Justin Forsett and Brian Westbrook.

If Adrian Peterson fails to play this week, you better hope that you were the owner with the fastest draw in getting to Gerhart. The Vikings are facing the worst-in-the-NFL Buffalo Bills, who are giving up 167 yards per game to running backs this season.

Moreno and Forsett have had their share of adversity. They are forced to split carries and run behind atrocious offensive lines. This week's matchups give them the potential to turn it around. We've already seen the bright spots out of Knowshon, but Forsett could easily take advantage of the Carolina Panther Defense giving up 130 yards per game.

I expect some big things out of Westbrook, but likely not this week against the Green Bay Packers. He is a good option, however, to store on your bench for when playoffs roll around. San Francisco faces the St. Louis Rams and Arizona Cardinals in Weeks 16 and 17.

Week 13 NFL Wide Receiver Rankings

  1. Dwayne Bowe
  2. Roddy White
  3. Brandon Lloyd
  4. Andre Johnson
  5. DeSean Jackson
  6. Calvin Johnson
  7. Reggie Wayne
  8. Mario Manningham
  9. Jeremy Maclin
  10. Greg Jennings
  11. Marques Colston
  12. Santonio Holmes
  13. Steve Johnson
  14. Terrell Owens
  15. Mike Williams (TB)
  16. Mike Wallace
  17. Miles Austin
  18. Randy Moss
  19. Pierre Garcon
  20. Anquan Boldin
  21. Dez Bryant
  22. Johnny Knox
  23. Larry Fitzgerald
  24. Mike Sims-Walker
  25. Eddie Royal
  26. Braylon Edwards
  27. Wes Welker
  28. Malcom Floyd
  29. Danny Amendola
  30. Michael Crabtree
  31. Santana Moss
  32. Ben Obomanu
  33. Hines Ward
  34. Lance Moore
  35. Steve Smith (CAR)

The Top 10 wide receivers will undoubtedly throw up some huge numbers this week. Any of these guys really could have had the number one spot. Bowe, White, Lloyd and Wayne have some nice matchups and each of these games will likely rack up more than 45 points.

It's in the 20s and 30s spots where the list gets interesting. Lots of No. 2 WRs have potential to take advantage of the inevitable double coverage on the big guys. Eddie Royal, Lance Moore and Braylon Edwards will be facing less than average pass coverage and could each have big games.

I'm not a fan of gambling with Lance Moore or any other Saints receiver because it's impossible to predict which one will show up for the big numbers. Pierre Garçon is the highest No. 2 receiver on the list since the Colts will be facing a sorry Dallas secondary in a game that is sure to light up the scoreboard.

Week 13 NFL Tight End Rankings

  1. Antonio Gates
  2. Todd Heap
  3. Jacob Tamme
  4. Jason Witten
  5. Tony Gonzalez
  6. Vernon Davis
  7. Dustin Keller
  8. Visanthe Shiancoe
  9. Brent Celek
  10. Joel Dreessen
  11. Marcedes Lewis
  12. Kellen Winslow
  13. Chris Cooley
  14. Tony Moeaki
  15. Brandon Pettigrew

Jacob Tamme has played five games. He has 369 yards, 3 TDs, and 9.7 yards per catch... Anyone still miss Dallas Clark?

Week 13 NFL Kicker Rankings

  1. Matt Bryant
  2. David Akers
  3. Sebastian Janikowski
  4. Neil Rackers
  5. Olindo Mare
  6. Graham Gano
  7. Nick Folk
  8. Josh Scobee
  9. Robbie Gould
  10. Josh Brown

Take the Kicker seriously! Easily the most forgotten about position on fantasy rosters across the country. By simply researching the stats for a few minutes you can add at least five points per week by shuffling your kicker based on matchup. If you are still rolling with your original draft pick, and his name happens to be Longwell (50 percent owned, 55 points scored), Lindell (22 percent owned, 61 points), or Prater (28 percent owned, 70 points), it's time to look on the waiver wire and find someone who can get you something.

Week 13 NFL Defense Rankings

  1. San Diego Chargers
  2. Chicago Bears
  3. Seattle Seahawks
  4. New Orleans Saints
  5. New England Patriots
  6. Green Bay Packers
  7. Detroit Lions
  8. Pittsburgh Steelers
  9. Minnesota Vikings
  10. New York Giants
