Michael Vick: A Resurrected Star Quarterback at His Best As a Philadelphia Eagle

Andrew J. KearneyDec 1, 2010

The Philadelphia Eagles took a mega-gamble on Michael Vick last season.

At a time when the rest of the league wouldn't give him a look, the Eagles emerged and gave themselves another offensive weapon.  During the signing period, many criticized the Eagles for making this move based solely on public relations, not in terms of football.

Fast-forward one calendar year and a whole lot has changed in Philadelphia.  Vick, while still in Midnight Green, is no longer a decoy but an MVP candidate.

Vick's miraculous 180 into a drop-back passer is stunning.

The fact that he's already back to NFL game-speed is even more impressive.  This dynamic QB is now 30 and looking to be locked up with a long-term deal, likely his last NFL contract.

The transformation of this special athlete is puzzling to fans.  His career path has gone every which way with all signs leading back to his current self.  The Vick today may be the best of all.

He's not just a scrambler, he's now a pocket-passer.  No longer a criminal but now a humble, repented quarterback—at least that's what he makes us believe.

In many ways, the Atlanta Michael Vick and the Philadelphia version 2.0 are so much different.  They are alike as well, but their comparisons are far and few between.  Vick is far more accurate than he used to be.  Not to mention that he's now turned his arm into his greatest weapon.

Not to say this wasn't the case before, but in all honesty, his legs were what made him known in the past.  Now, this more complete QB is better than ever and looks to lead the Eagles to a Super Bowl.

The Eagles, under Vick are a more complete offense than with Donovan McNabb.  They now possess a coveted prize in the NFL world, one that makes all of his teammates better.

The Eagles' youth corps has really taken a liking to Vick and formed great camaraderie.  Guys like LeSean McCoy, DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin have been the biggest benefactors, though all have been helped by Vick.

Vick may or may not win the NFL's MVP this season.  If he does, it could be one of the greatest comeback stories in sports.  If not, he will likely fall victim to New England's superb signal-caller Tom Brady

Either way, the Michael Vick Experience has officially return.  A revitalized Vick is the best version yet.  With each game, we'll continue to be awed by Vick and his on-field antics.  That is, of course, if he can lay his off-field antics to rest once and for all.

The Eagles are glad that Vick emerged into an elite QB again.  The only person perhaps that doesn't benefit from this is Kevin Kolb, or does he?

In all likelihood, the young Texan will be traded at some point.  This will eventually work to his advantage, and the Eagles will seemingly slap the "franchise tag" onto Michael Vick.

Though we saw a "human" Vick this past weekend, I believe that the best is yet to come for a man with a second chance.

Like him, hate him, I suppose everyone deserves a second chance, right?
