NFL Fantasy Football Start/Sit Week 13: Sam Bradford In, Jon Kitna Out
Here’s some sit and start advice as you set your lineups for Week 13 of the NFL season.
Quarterbacks
Start:
Sam Bradford, St. Louis Rams
Don’t look now, but the talented rookie has a 17-9 TD to INT ratio. It’s 10-1 in his past five games. He has the fortune of playing Arizona, who ranks 25th with 262.3 passing yards allowed per game. He struggled with three interceptions in his pro debut against the Cardinals, but that seems like an eternity ago.
Sit:
Jon Kitna, Dallas Cowboys
Now that they lost under Jason Garrett, I wouldn’t be surprised if they returned to their losing ways. The Colts rank seventh with just 217.4 passing yards allowed per game and are tied for sixth with 13 passing touchdowns allowed.

Running Backs
Start:
Mike Tolbert, San Diego Chargers
Tolbert just keeps churning out big games, and his date with Oakland’s 28th ranked run defense (133.7 rushing yards allowed per game) is enticing. Ryan Mathews has become an afterthought.
Felix Jones, Dallas Cowboys
Jones hasn’t been explosive, but he has had at least 86 total yards in his past three games. He is a nice play against Indianapolis’ 29th ranked run defense (136 ypg). I’m not expecting him to get the goal line carries in Marion Barber’s absence, as Tashard Choice will likely get those looks, but there should be enough yardage to make him a decent RB2. Plus, he’s always a threat to break a long one.
Sit:
LeGarrette Blount, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Blount managed just 55 yards against Baltimore’s 11th ranked run defense (101.7 ypg). This week he has the tall order of facing Atlanta’s sixth ranked run defense (93.7 ypg). They are tied for an NFL-low four rushing touchdowns.
Ronnie Brown, Miami Dolphins
The Browns, Ronnie’s opponent this week, have also allowed just four rushing touchdowns. He ran for 85 yards last week against the Raiders, but is still sharing with Ricky Williams nearly 50-50. That won’t be enough against Cleveland.
Wide Receivers
Start:
Blair White, Indianapolis Colts
Peyton Manning is taking a bit of a beating in the press this week after getting handled by the Chargers. I believe he will respond this week against the Cowboys, who have been torched in recent weeks by Drew Brees, Shaun Hill, Eli Manning (twice), Aaron Rodgers and David Garrard. They are tied for 30th with 23 passing touchdowns allowed. White has three in his past two games, and Peyton is comfortable with him in the red zone. Don’t be surprised if the rookie scores again.
Steve Breaston, Arizona Cardinals
Breaston had a stinker on MNF against the Niners, catching just two passes for 22 yards. He’s still averaging 77.4 yards in his past five games. He’s a good bet to rebound against St. Louis’ 23rd ranked pass defense (259.1 ypg).
Sit:
Hines Ward, Pittsburgh Steelers
Ward is coming off his best game (107 yards) since week seven, but he has a tough draw against Baltimore, who rank eighth with 217.5 passing yards allowed per game. In 23 career games, Ward has just six touchdown catches with a 51.7 yards per game average. Plus, Ward has only topped 60 yards three times this year.
Tight Ends
Start:
Dustin Keller, New York Jets
Keller was back in the mix with four catches for 49 yards against the Bengals on Thanksgiving. He takes on the Patriots this week, who rank dead last with 299.1 passing yards allowed. They are tied for 26th with 21 passing touchdowns allowed. Plus, Keller burned them for 115 yards on seven catches in their first meeting.
Sit:
Greg Olsen, Chicago Bears
For starters, Olsen only averages 30.1 yards per game. If he doesn’t score a touchdown, you’re in trouble. He’s facing the Lions, who have contained Jason Witten (48 yards), Dustin Keller (59 yards) and Chris Cooley (48 yards) in recent weeks. They held Olsen to 37 yards back in Week 1.
Defenses
Start:
St. Louis Rams
I hate to pick on the Cardinals, but it’s easy. They have lost six straight and have been held to a combined 37 points in their past three games. They have been sacked eight times and have four turnovers during that stretch.
Sit:
Philadelphia Eagles
Between Arian Foster and Andre Johnson, there aren’t many better 1-2 RB-WR punches going. They have the ability to put some points on the board. They rank tenth with 24 points per game. Schaub has not thrown a pick in his past three games, and has only been sacked three times during that stretch.
