NFL Power Rankings Week 13: Jets, Patriots and Falcons Continue to Dominate
Week 12 in the NFL was a Thanksgiving weekend full of interesting matchups.
The Baltimore Ravens were able to beat out the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a tough-fought battle. Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears took down the red-hot Philadelphia Eagles.
The best record in the NFL is now 9-2, and it's held by three teams: the New York Jets, Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots.
Who's No. 1 in the National Football League this week? Take a look.
The following slides are the power rankings for Week 13 of the 2010-11 NFL season.
32. Carolina Panthers (1-10)
1 of 32
Last Game
Loss, 24-23 @ Cleveland Browns
With playoff hopes completely vanished for this season, the Carolina Panthers must now begin to restructure their team.
They must find out what works and what doesn't, in preparation for next season.
The Panthers lost their first five games this year, won one in Week 7 against the San Francisco 49ers and have since lost five straight once again. The Carolina defense has performed pretty well this season, it's the offense that hasn't been doing it's job.
Whether they have Jimmy Clausen or Matt Moore lead this football team, the Panthers just can't seem to get any production out of any of their quarterbacks. They're ranked 32nd overall in passing offense, only averaging 157.8 YPG.
Upcoming Schedule
@ Seattle Seahawks (5-6)
vs. Atlanta Falcons (9-2)
31. Detroit Lions (2-9)
2 of 32
Last Game
Loss, 45-24 vs. New England Patriots
The Detroit Lions are another team that will not be reaching the postseason this year after dropping their last four games.
But on a good note, the Lions have to feel good about the way Matthew Stafford seems to be developing. Before injuring his shoulder, Stafford played in three games. He exhibited two quite spectacular performances against the Washington Redskins and the New York Jets.
This season might be wasted, but the future doesn't look so bad for this franchise.
Upcoming Schedule
vs. Chicago Bears (8-3)
vs. Green Bay Packers (7-4)
30. Cincinnati Bengals (2-9)
3 of 32
Last Game
Loss, 49-31 vs. Buffalo Bills
The Cincinnati Bengals have one of the toughest schedule's throughout the entire NFL, and it has shown.
The Bengals have only won two games this season. But they have had to go up against teams such as the New England Patriots, Baltimore Ravens, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Atlanta Falcons, Indianapolis Colts and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Cincinnati's schedule doesn't get any easier, with the New Orleans Saints and Pittsburgh Steelers being their opponents for the next two weeks.
Upcoming Schedule
vs. New Orleans Saints (8-3)
@ Pittsburgh Steelers (8-3)
29. Arizona Cardinals (3-8)
4 of 32
Last Game
Loss, 27-6 vs. San Francisco 49ers
After a solid 3-2 start, the Arizona Cardinals have lost their last six outings.
Derek Anderson is clearly beginning to feel the pressure. He walked out on a press conference when he was asked why he was smiling at a certain point in the game.
After a pathetic performance against the 49ers, the Cardinals will have to make some serious adjustments if they want to win another football game this season.
Upcoming Schedule
vs. St. Louis Rams (5-6)
vs. Denver Broncos (3-8)
28. Denver Broncos (3-8)
5 of 32
Last Game
Loss, 36-33 vs. St. Louis Rams
After losing the last six out of seven games, the Denver Broncos have now played themselves out of the postseason this year.
They aren't mathematically out of the playoffs yet. But they would have to win the rest of their games just to have a fighting chance.
Upcoming Schedule
@ Kansas City Chiefs (7-4)
@ Arizona Cardinals (3-8)
27. Buffalo Bills (2-9)
6 of 32
Last Game
Loss, 19-16 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Bills started off the season at a miserable 0-8, then going on a brief winning streak by defeating the Detroit Lions and the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Buffalo Bills defense was able to hang in there with a very talented Pittsburgh offense. But Ryan Fitzpatrick could not lead his team to victory.
Granted, Steve Johnson dropped a game-winning catch. But Fitzpatrick wasn't playing too well himself the entire game, throwing an interception and only one touchdown.
Upcoming Schedule
@ Minnesota Vikings (4-7)
@ Cleveland Browns (4-7)
26. Dallas Cowboys (3-8)
7 of 32
Last Game
Loss, 30-27 vs. New Orleans Saints
After playing their way back into the playoff race, the Dallas Cowboys lost a crucial game to the New Orleans Saints on Thanksgiving Day.
With three divisional games remaining on their schedule, the Dallas Cowboys are surprisingly still in the postseason hunt. They only trail the (7-4) NFC East Division-leading Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants by four games.
Although it would be a difficult task to complete, they need to win at the very least four out of their next five games, including both against the Eagles. They would also need the Giants to lose, which could happen because they have a tough schedule remaining as well.
Since Jason Garret took over at head coach, the Cowboys look like a different football team.
Upcoming Schedule
@ Indianapolis Colts (6-5)
vs. Philadelphia Eagles (7-4)
25. Cleveland Browns (4-7)
8 of 32
Last Game
Win, 24-23 vs. Carolina Panthers
The young players for the Cleveland Browns are really beginning to blossom.
Three-year pro Peyton Hillis displayed the performance of his career this past Sunday, rushing for 131 yards and three touchdowns, while also making six receptions for 63 yards. At quarterback they have rookie Colt McCoy.
He has shown some promise, but was injured and did not play against the Carolina Panthers this past weekend. The Browns will most likely not be making the playoffs this year, but their future is looking pretty bright.
Upcoming Schedule
@ Miami Dolphins (6-5)
@ Buffalo Bills (2-9)
24. San Francisco 49ers (4-7)
9 of 32
Last Game
Win, 27-6 @ Arizona Cardinals
With a big win on Monday Night against their division rivals, the 49ers are now only one game out of first place in the NFC West.
Frank Gore suffered a fractured right hip in the win, which will bench him for the remainder of the season. But Brian Westbrook showed San Francisco fans that they'll have nothing to worry about after rushing for 136 yards and a touchdown on 23 attempts.
Upcoming Schedule
@ Green Bay Packers (7-4)
vs. Seattle Seahawks (5-6)
23. Minnesota Vikings (4-7)
10 of 32
Last Game
Win, 17-13 @ Washington Redskins
After what has been a very disappointing season, Brett Favre led the Minnesota Vikings to victory over the Washington Redskins.
Favre didn't record any touchdowns, but he was careful with the football, making no turnovers. It will be very interesting to see how he performs against the Giants in Week 14.
Upcoming Schedule
vs. Buffalo Bills (2-9)
vs. New York Giants (7-4)
22. Tennessee Titans (5-6)
11 of 32
Last Game
Loss, 20-0 @ Houston Texans
In a close AFC South division, the Tennessee Titans are only one game out of being tied for first place after the loss on Sunday.
With two big games coming up against their AFC South rival, the Indianapolis Colts, their season will be solely determined upon their five-game finish.
Upcoming Schedule
vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (6-5)
vs. Indianapolis Colts (6-5)
21. Seattle Seahawks (5-6)
12 of 32
Last Game
Loss, 42-24 vs. Kansas City Chiefs
The Seahawks were crushed by the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
They are now tied for first in the NFC West with the St. Louis Rams. They only earned 20 total rushing yards as a team.
If they don't find their running game soon, they will begin to fall out of the playoff race quickly.
Upcoming Schedule
vs. Carolina Panthers (1-10)
@ San Francisco 49ers(4-7)
20. Houston Texans (5-6)
13 of 32
Last Game
Win, 20-0 vs. Tennessee Titans
Matt Schaub led the Houston Texans to victory completing 25 of his 35 attempted passes for 178 yards and two touchdowns.
The most memorable play of the game was when Andre Johnson and Cortland Finnegan got into a scuffle, resulting in both players being ejected form the contest. They both received a $25,000 fine.
Upcoming Schedule
@ Philadelphia Eagles (7-4)
vs. Baltimore Ravens (8-3)
19. Jacksonville Jaguars (6-5)
14 of 32
Last Game
Loss, 24-20 @ New York Giants
The Jaguars failed to win against the New York Giants this past Sunday.
But fortunately, the Indianapolis Colts lost as well, leaving Jacksonville on top of the AFC South. With two games ahead that they should be able to win, the Jaguars might be able to pull away a bit from the Colts before their Week 15 matchup.
Which will be sure to have playoff implications.
Upcoming Schedule

18. St. Louis Rams (5-6)

After losing to the Minnesota Vikings—and having an incredibly tough schedule ahead—the 2010-11 season will no longer be a success for the Washington Redskins.

vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-4)
16. Oakland Raiders (5-6)
17 of 32

Loss, 33-17 vs. Miami Dolphins
The Oakland Raiders were on a hot streak not too long ago, winning three games in a row
But they have since dropped two straight. They're still in the playoff race, only two games behind the AFC West-leading Chiefs.
But in order for them to make the postseason, they must go on another winning streak.
Upcoming Schedule
@ San Diego Chargers (6-5)
@ Jacksonville Jaguars (6-5)
15. Miami Dolphins (6-5)
18 of 32
Last Game
Win, 33-17 @ Oakland Raiders
The Dolphins' playoff hopes have basically faded because of the dominant play of the New York Jets and New England Patriots, making the AFC East such a difficult division to play in.
Miami hasn't been consistent enough. They have only been on a winning streak once, after winning the first two games this season, and are now are struggling to stay alive.
With some tough games ahead, the Dolphins will finish the season with a losing record.

Loss, 36-14 vs. San Diego Chargers
Peyton Manning had one of the worst games of his career against the San Diego Chargers this past weekend, throwing four interceptions.
He recorded his worst QB rating of the season with 59.8. When Peyton Manning doesn't perform well, the Colts struggle tremendously.
Upcoming Schedule
vs. Dallas Cowboys (3-8)
@ Tennessee Titans (5-6)
11. New York Giants (7-4)
22 of 32
Last Game
Win, 24-20 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Giants are now tied for first in the NFC East with the Philadelphia Eagles after defeating the Jaguars and an Eagles loss.
New York has the first-overall passing defense and the No. 9-overall rushing defense in the National Football League, which makes them one of the best defenses in the NFL. With their remaining schedule, they should be able to make the playoffs.

Last Game
Loss, 17-10 @ Baltimore Ravens

Last Game
Loss, 20-17 @ Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons put a stop to Green Bay's four-game winning streak on Thanksgiving weekend.
Brandon Jackson only rushed for 26 yards. His lack of production was one of the main reasons they lost this game.
If Jackson performed a bit better, he could have made the difference.

@ Detroit Lions (2-9)
8. Chicago Bears (8-3)
25 of 32

Loss, 31-26 @ Chicago Bears
Despite losing to the Bears and having a slightly worse record, I still believe that Philadelphia has the better football team.
Since Michael Vick has taken over, he has been outstanding. Vick will lead this team to an exciting postseason run.

6. New Orleans Saints (8-3)

@ Chicago Bears (8-3)
1. New York Jets (9-2)
32 of 32
Last Game
Win, 26-10 vs. Cincinnati Bengals
After losing their first game of the season, the Jets have since won nine of their last 10 games.
Gang Green has the second-overall rushing offense and the fourth-ranked rushing defense in the NFL. As long as they can continue to pound the football, as well as stop the rushing game on defense, the Jets should find themselves in the Super Bowl.
The only thing they were missing from reaching the Super Bowl last season was a quarterback. Mark Sanchez struggled through his rookie season.
This year, Sanchez is more mature and determined to lead this team to a Super Bowl championship.
Upcoming Schedule
@ New England Patriots (9-2)
vs. Miami Dolphins (6-5)
