MMA is NOT Human Cockfighting!
Recently, due to my views on the matter of Michael Vick, I have written an article in defence of Quinton Rampage Jackson, and now I feel I must write one to explain why MMA is not the equivalent of dog fighting or a type of "human cock fighting."
To me, comparing the sport that I love and am most passionate about to "competitions" between animals that are unable to understand that they are fighting to the death and are completely unable to understand OR give their consent is truly ludicrous.
How can any intelligent human being even argue this?
I do not enjoy or condone any form of abuse or brutality towards animals or another human being. I loathe pedophiles who project sexual desires on innocent children later claiming that an eight year old girl or boy "seduced them" and "wanted" a sexual relationship with the perpetrator.
An eight year old is not that knowledgeable about relationships period, and has no idea that there are predators in the world who may hurt them and take advantage of them because they are young, defenseless or cute.
Animals, as do children, depend on an adult for their well being. They do not know that animal torture is a way for psychopaths to get their jollies while torturing or killing another living being..
MMA fighters are by and large educated intelligent beings, capable of deciding whether or not to engage in physical activities which may be detrimental to their general health and well being.
Why did I use the picture I did to illustrate this article?
It is a picture of Randy Couture comforting his wife Kim after she lost her first professional MMA fight.
He admitted that at one point, after watching her choke on her own blood and suspecting, as a veteran MMA fighter himself, that her nose had been badly broken; he considered throwing in the towel and was indeed gripping it tightly in his hand to do just that.
After the fight it was discovered that Kim had fought the whole three rounds with her jaw broken in two places, just below her ear and also in the middle of her chin.
Kim said she would "have killed her husband had he thrown in the towel at any point in the fight." She is a tough and very knowledgeable woman and felt capable of making her own decision whether to fight or continue, in spite of the massive amount of blood lost and pain.
An animal does not have the luxury of this capability and when put into such a situation has no way to stop it or prevent being injured--he depends on his owner's discretion for that.
No one can tell me that as a group MMA fighters are ignorant of the risks they take.
John McCain's disagreement with MMA fighting ended when rules and regulations were written for fighter protection and it became regulated as a legitimate sport.
Michael Vicks dogs had no such protection or considerations for their "competitions."
If dog fighting is so exciting to Mr. Vick, lets render him incapable of speech and throw him in a ring naked without protection or referees and let him experience a fight to the death.
If the dog is too compassionate to finish him and end his suffering, let us hang him and then throw his body into a huge fire.
Let him be consumed in flames and then go to explain to his final judge and maker why he felt such behavior was okay for him to use on his dogs.
Everyone in agreement raise your paws . . .I mean hands.
