New York Rangers Look To Start Winning Streak in Nashville

Nick PerriNov 27, 2010

Tonight, the New York Rangers will pay a visit to the Nashville Predators with the hope of beginning a winning streak. On Friday, the Rangers shutout the Florida Panthers 3-0 on spectacular performances from several players.

Henrik Lundqvist was credited with his third shutout of the season; the win may be a "bounce-back" game for Lundqvist who had lost his previous three starts.

Other key players in the victory were:

Line Swapping

For once, Rangers' coach John Tortorella, made line changes that worked.

The first line was: Brandon Dubinsky, Derek Stepan and Marian Gaborik.

This line moved the puck very well, and they played well together on the power play.

The second line consisted of Ryan Callahan, Brian Boyle and Ruslan Fedotenko.

Another strong line for the Rangers, especially in the third period. This line was, without a doubt, the best defensive line last night. Constantly blocking shots, clearing the crease (Boyle), and clearing the zone. They put on a great performance.

The third line was: Sean Avery, Artem Anisimov and Brandon Prust.

Avery and Prust were both key players in the Rangers victory. Avery began the game on the fourth line, but was later changed to the third line as a reward for excellent play.

The fourth line consisted of Alex Frolov, Erik Christensen and Todd White

This was the most troublesome line for the Rangers, as they were given almost no ice-time.

Will the new lines stay?

These lines worked very well for the Rangers, but according to the NY Post, these new lines may have been a one game experiment.

We will find out later today during Tortorellas' pre-game press conference.

Who will start?

Tonight, will be the final game of the three game road-trip for the Rangers. Lundqvist has started both games. However, Martin Biron usually receives the start in the second game of back-to-back games.

The starting goalie has yet to be decided, but we should find out later today.

Streaks

The New York Rangers are looking to begin a winning streak in tonight's game, after defeating the Panthers 3-0 on Friday night. The Rangers are 8-4-0 on the road this season.

The Predators lost their previous game to the Minnesota Wild by the score of 5-2. The Predators are 3-1-4 at home this season.

If there are any roster changes, expect an update.
