Brandon Graham and Joselio Hanson Will Need to Step Up Against Bears
As you all know from the last game, cornerback Asante Samuel and defensive end Juqua Parker were injured. Samuel has an MCL sprain and Parker is suffering from a hip injury. Both players are questionable for this week's game.
What do the Eagles do now?
The backups set to start in case Samuel and Parker don't play are Joselio Hanson at CB and the rookie Brandon Graham at DE. Graham was listed as the starting defensive end at the beginning of the season but lost the job to veteran Juqua Parker because of his lack of production and an injury.
Parker remained the starter even after Graham was healthy and he played a good role in the defense. Brandon Graham, in my opinion, should be a better pass rusher because of his small stature and high motor. He almost reminds me of Dwight Freeney. However, his production this season has been a disappointment thus far.
After Parker was injured during the Giants game, Graham stepped in and played pretty well. He was the guy who forced Eli Manning out of the pocket on the same play that he fumbled. Things look promising.
Joselio Hanson is a good nickel corner but not a very safe choice for an every down CB. His positioning is sometimes off and he resorts to taking bad penalties to save himself. I'm not going to say start Trevard Lindley but Sean McDermott has to keep a watchful eye on Hanson.
All "ifs" aside, Joselio Hanson and Brandon Graham will need to step up big time to make their presence known to Mike Martz because you better bet the house that he will be gunning for them.
