Terrell Owens, Chad Ochocinco and Other Cincinnati Bengals Topics

The Cincinnati Bengals have shown that they are horrible this year. They have now lost eight in a row.

While the Bengals are getting ready for their next loss against the Saints, here are six Bengal topics to ponder.

1. Dan LeFevour Anyone?

Dan LeFevour put up monster stats at Central Michigan. Many Bengal fans would like to see him on the field instead of the Palmer brothers.

As bad as Carson Palmer has been, LeFevour would be worse. He was cut by Chicago for a reason.

Aside from Palmer's poor play, the Bengals' problems are:

1. Defensive line—many of these guys should be cut.

2. Linebackers—two high picks and an aging middle linebacker not making plays.

3. Special teams—Kevin Huber is inconsistent. Field goals are an adventure and have been for years.

4. Offensive line—Palmer gets hit a lot, and Cedric Benson has nowhere to go.

5. The receivers don't go where they are supposed to.

6. Depth—this was obvious this week.

Are there more?

2. Adjustments?

The Bengals have been outscored 58-3 in the second half in their last two games.

If you take away the three games where they were playing catchup (Patriots, Falcons and Steelers), they have been outscored 115-50 in the second half.

3. Owens Vs. Revis

Last year, Darrelle Revis called Owens a "slouch."

Early this week, Terrell Owens told anyone that would listen that Revis is "just an average corner" to him. Indeed, Revis has had some struggles this year. Owens thinks that Revis' skills are a media creation.

In the game, Owens ended up with three catches for 17 yards, although he did have the disadvantage of playing with a struggling quarterback in a struggling offense.

4. Terrell Owens Is a Good Dude

Most people think that Terrell Owens is a jerk. However, he has never gotten in trouble with the law or had legal issues (that we are aware of).

Last year, there was this feel-good story.

This week, this article came out.

Maybe he isn't so bad after all.

5. More Naked Ocho

Ochocinco will be seen (almost) naked again.

Find out more here if you care.

6. Marvin Lewis Gone?

NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora says here that Carson Palmer, Terrell Owens, Chad Ochocinco and Cedric Benson could all be gone next year.

Don't weep for Lewis. He has made a fortune and was the 2009 NFL Coach of the Year. He will have no problem finding work in the NFL.

It is possible that La Canfora created this out of thin air so that if one of these guys is gone, he can confirm his "insider" status.

None of this is really surprising either. Peter King has already speculated that the Bengals will cut Palmer. Owens and Benson will be free agents, so they will likely be gone anyway.

Ochocinco might be back. He gives the Bengals national exposure, which puts more coin into the organization. Ochocinco's contract calls for a team option for him to return in 2011.
