Ilya Kovalchuk, New Jersey Devils Back on the Fantasy NHL Cold Front

Brandon GalvinNov 26, 2010

Our good friend Ilya Kovalchuk was given a week off the Cold list last week despite doing more than enough to warrant a spot. Kovalchuk couldn’t stay away too long as his invisibility act continues and tops the list once again with another disappointing week.

Which other superstars joined Kovalchuk on the Cold Front this week?

Drew Doughty, Los Angeles Kings Defenseman

A top five defenseman, Doughty has been invisible this past week.

Although he has eight shots on goal, he has zero assists and zero goals to show for his efforts. He has just two penalty minutes. Doughty has essentially been worthless this week but there is nothing fantasy owners can do about that, he must stay in all lineups if healthy.

Henrik Lundqvist, New York Rangers Goalie

One of the better goalies in the league, Lundqvist had a week he’d like to forget. In his last three starts he has suffered three losses. He opened the month 3-2, but has since gone winless.

Lundqvist has allowed eight goals in the past three games, a save percentage of .840 and a 5.25 goal average against.

Stick with Lundqivst as the Rangers will turn it around shortly.

Henrik Sedin, Vancouver Canucks Center

A staple in the top 10 among centers, Sedin fell of this week.

Surprisingly, Sedin only attempted three shots on goal and as one would expect, failed to score.

Although he did give out two assists, this is not the type of production we have come to expect from Sedin. A very disappointing effort from one of the game’s best.

Although he had one goal and two penalty minutes, Healtey’s fantasy owners expect more from one of the better wingers in the game.

Healey only took six shots on goal, failed to record an assist and was -1 for the week.

The Sharks have been up and down this season for fantasy so it’s a safe bet to believe that Heatley will come back to life as soon as next week.

Ilya Kovalchuk, New Jersey Devils Wing

Kovalchuk was given a break from the list last week, but if he didn’t show signs of turning the season around he was going to be right back on here to rub in the embarrassment he has been for the New Jersey Devils.

Kovalchuk literally did nothing to help his owners. In fact, his -1 hurt owners.

Kovalchuk failed to score or record an assist in the past week.

Thanks for nothing!
