TNA Impact! Live Thanksgiving Coverage
TNA Impact! opens with a video package of Matt Morgan against Ric Flair's Fortune group, hyping up Final Resolution pay per view.
Title of the show is "Guess Who's Coming To Dinner?"
Matt Morgan comes out to the ring with a nice ovation from the crowd. He cuts a promo on Jeff Hardy, promising what happened at the last pay per view will not happen again. He claims that he needs a referee that will call the match straight down the middle. Morgan says he needs a referre that is like himself. Morgan says he will prove to the audience that he will become the new and proud TNA World Heavyweight Champion.
Douglas Williams then comes out to join Morgan in the ring. Williams says Morgan doesn't need to look any further for a referre. Williams bashes the Fortune group, individual by individual. Morgan thanks Williams for having his back. Ric Flair comes out with the rest of Fortune. Kazarian makes an eight-man tag elimination match tonight.
Another video package is shown with EV2's breakdown in recent weeks.
We go backstage to both Immortal and Fortune. Ric Flair once again chugs a Smirnoff Ice. Bischoff then announces that former TNA President Dixie Carter has landed and will be at the Impact! Zone.
First match of the night is Rhino versus Tommy Dreamer. The match is, what could be predicted quite easily, a hardcore feature. Plenty of trash cans, tables, chairs and more used in the match. As Rhino was about to go for the gore, Dreamer countered by hitting Rhino with a garbage can lid for the three count.
After the match, Dreamer and Rhino hugged it out but then attacked Tommy by slamming him into a table. Rob Van Dam comes out for the save and announces he will face Rhino at Final Resolution in a First Blood match.
Backstage, Ric Flair is in the middle of a brawl backstage with Tara and Mickie James, the Beautiful People and Madison Rayne. After Flair leaves, the Knockouts continue their fighting backstage.
Again backstage, Immortal and Fortune are continuing their Thanksgiving dinner. Jeff Hardy appears and cuts a promo about himself and joins them for dinner. We cut to short clips of what happened on last week's Reaction with Generation Me and the Motor City Machine Guns in an empty arena match.
PERAGINE'S FIRST HOUR THOUGHTS:
Nothing but a bunch of backstage segments, promos and talking. There was only one match in the opening hour. I feel TNA has gone in a direction where talking is more important then wrestling matches. Although the hype is important for certain things, a ton of talking could tune out viewers. For the first hour, I would have billed this show as "Total Nonstop Talking."
Second hour begins with yet again another backstage segment. Madison Rayne comes to the ring and calls out Sarita after their brawl just a few minutes ago. Rayne wants to face Sarita. The bell sounds and we have Rayne versus Sarita. Sarita and Rayne put on a pretty good match with lots of action and it didn't feel rushed. Your winner, Sarita.
We cut backstage to Immortal and Fortune. Jeff Jarrett tells the groups he has a special "DVD" to show after commercial break.
Back from break, Immortal and Fortune members talk about what they are thankful for. Jarrett shows his DVD featuring him in a karate place teaching small kids (probably ages of 5-6) about submission holds. We go to Jesse Neal before another commercial break talking about his MMA style match with Jarrett.
We return to Impact! with Neal and Jarrett in a MMA style match up. Jarrett and Neal, in my opinion, performed a pretty decent MMA style match. The concept of trying to incorporate wrestling and MMA in this match was enough action for me to keep watching. After the referee was knocked out, Jarrett hit Neal with a guitar shot. When the referee recovered, Neal was knocked out and Jarrett won the match.
Up next, Brother Ray has a special "Holiday treat."
Brother Ray is in the ring talking about his actions against Brother Devon. Ray claims he could have retired as TNA Tag Team Champions and rants that Devon was the weak link in Team 3D. Ray introduces a video package about how weak Devon is and why he is the leader of the group. Fans continue to heckle at Ray as he shows the best of himself on a short highlight reel.
Before break, Dixie Carter is shown walking out a limo to the Impact Zone.
Backstage, Immortal and Fortune anticipate Carter's arrival.
The main event is announced and it is Douglas Williams, "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero, Samoa Joe, Matt Morgan versus Kazarian, AJ Styles and Beer Money (James Storm and Robert Roode). Storm is pinned by Dinero and is eliminated first. Williams pins Kazarian with a German suplex and the team has a 4-2 advantage. After a confrontation, Joe and Dinero argue about a tag made by Williams and brawl outside the ring then go backstage. Williams gets slammed by Roode and is eliminated, as team Fortune as a 2-1 advantage.
Impact! ends and TNA Reaction comes on (we will continue to follow coverage for the match)
We continue our coverage of this main event match on Reaction. As Morgan is about to get the win with the big boot, Hardy low blows Morgan. Fortune and Hardy beat down on Morgan.
REACTION EXTRA:
Dixie Carter enters the room backstage. Bischoff and Hogan tell Dixie, "the past is the past." Dixie seems to be in agreement but suddenly hands them papers about the legal battles with who should have control of TNA Wrestling. As Dixie leaves, she says "see you in court." Hogan, Bischoff and the rest of the group are concerned with what just happened.
Could their run of taking over TNA be over?
