NFL Fantasy Football Week 12 Sleepers: Brett Favre and More

Ryan LesterNov 25, 2010

Sometimes because of matchups you have to roll out less than ideal lineups, especially when your players are nicked up. That’s the nature of the beast. Sometimes you need a fantasy gem to be successful. Here are some of the under-the-radar players that could possibly pull out a win for you.

Brett Favre, QB, Minnesota Vikings
He’s obviously not a sleeper in the actual sense of the word, but I’ve contended for years that the former meaning of the word is dead. Everybody knows everybody. I have Favre on this list because he’s been awful this year. He's got his way though, and Brad Childress is gone. The handcuffs are off Darrell Bevell now. Watch him open up the offense against Washington’s 29th ranked pass defense. If you’re looking for a really deep sleeper, give Tennessee’s Rusty Smith a whirl.

Brandon Jacobs, New York Giants
OK, so he’s also not a sleeper, but he is a player that is not typically in starting lineups. He will get the starting nod though, and likely the goal-line carries because of Ahmad Bradshaw’s fumbling issues. Plus, if Bradshaw puts another one on the ground, he could find himself watching from the sidelines.

Derek Hagan, NewYork Giants
Now we’re talking about someone who’s a lot further under the radar. With Hakeem Nicks and Steve Smith out, Hagan should get plenty of opportunities against Jacksonville’s 28th-ranked pass defense.

Jimmy Graham, New Orleans Saints
Graham caught five passes for 72 yards last week with Jeremy Shockey out. He will likely get the nod again as the Saints’ short week may not be enough for Shockey’s ribs. If he’s out, look for Graham to have another solid game. I didn’t want to come off as a Giants fan, but Kevin Boss is another solid play this week with all the injuries at WR and their RB issue.

San Francisco 49ers Defense
I mentioned the Cleveland Browns in my Sit/Start article, so while they qualify, I’ll offer another option. The 49ers have been one of the more disappointing teams in the league. Patrick Willis has played better of late, and with Arizona on tap, the Niners should have a solid performance.
