Fantasy Football Alert: Brandon Marshall May Miss Multiple Weeks for Dolphins
Brandon Marshall’s hamstring injury is worse than expected, and he is now in danger of missing multiple weeks with the injury, according to Mike Berardino of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
This news is a crushing blow to the Dolphins, who may now have lost all hope for the playoffs.
This is a similarly crushing blow to fantasy football owners, as their playoff hopes or hopes of contending for their league championship have been significantly decreased.
Davone Bess will step up as the Dolphins' No. 1 receiver, and he should make quite an impact, especially in PPR leagues. Bess will help propel some teams to and through the playoffs and is sitting at only 45 percent owned. He obviously needs to be owned in all leagues immediately.
Brian Hartline is the major beneficiary of this news, as he is now soundly fantasy relevant and may help teams during the stretch run. He has more value as a flex2 than anything else but can find some flex value in the deepest leagues. He is also a better value in PPR leagues despite Bess being the possession receiver. Hartline is currently available in 94 percent of Yahoo! leagues.
Anthony Fasano stands to be another major beneficiary of Marshall’s absence and should sniff low-end TE1 value while B-Mac is out of the lineup for the Dolphins.
Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown both stand to have a tougher time running the ball but should now become more involved in the passing game, which will help to increase their total yardage and thus, hopefully, their fantasy values. They both get a slight boost in PPR leagues and a slight decrease in fantasy value in TD-heavy leagues as opposed to yardage-heavy leagues.
