Fantasy Football Week 12: Start'em or Sit'em This Thanksgiving Day Weekend
Week 12 kicks off this Thursday, and before you sit back with a plate of Grandma's finest, don't forget to set your fantasy lineups.
Sure, we will be feasting our eyes on three tasty games this holiday, but once your lineup is locked in, there's no going back, so this list isn't limited to only Thursday's games.
Here are 10 starts and sits that could be the difference in whether or not you're thankful for your fantasy squad this weekend.
Start Em: Marques Colston
1 of 10
Colston is New Orleans' leading receiver, and this Thanksgiving, he and the Saints visit the Dallas Cowboys, winners of two straight games.
Fortunately for the road team, the Cowboys have one of the league's most porous secondaries.
Look for quarterback Drew Brees to target the large frame of Marques Colston a few times on Thursday; he isn't a bad start.
Sit Em: Cedric Benson
2 of 10
Cedric Benson has been a rare bright spot for the 2-8 Bengals this season, but Thursday night, he will be going up against one of the NFL's best defenses in the New York Jets.
Benson has been a reliable fantasy prospect all year long with 200 carries, over 740 yards rushing and five total touchdowns.
However, Cincinnati has reached a new low after losing at home to the Bills by 18 points on Sunday, after being outscored 35-0 in the second half.
Look for some uninspired Bengals on the field Thursday night and very little fantasy production from Benson.
Start Em: Mike Tolbert
3 of 10
Tolbert is as hot as they come after last Monday night's performance against the Broncos.
Though it was just Tolbert's second 100-yard rushing game of the season, his 506 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on only 112 attempts is rather eye-opening.
The Chargers are in Indianapolis this Sunday night, and the Colts banged up defense might equal a huge fantasy day for Tolbert and his Charger running mates.
Sit Em: Michael Turner
4 of 10
The Falcons host the Packers on Sunday in the Georgia Dome, but the Green Bay run defense might have the home field advantage in this one.
The Packers defense has been phenomenal as of late, shutting down Adrian Peterson last Sunday, Marion Barber three weeks ago, and before that, the Jets' running game was victimized.
Sure, Turner is one of the league's premier running backs and is an excellent fantasy player, but his match up this week isn't favorable, bench him only if you have another back with a better matchup.
Start Em: Donovan McNabb
5 of 10
McNabb and the Redskins are slightly back on track after a road win over the Titans last week, and this Sunday they play host to the dysfunction that is the Minnesota Vikings.
The Minnesota secondary was torched by the Packers last week, and McNabb is fresh off of a 30 completion and 376-yard performance.
Look for McNabb to put up some healthy fantasy numbers at quarterback this week, considering most opposing quarterbacks have done well against the Vikings this season; they are 0-5 on the road.
Sit Em: Jason Witten
6 of 10
Jason Witten's production has diminished with the Cowboys' playoff hopes.
Dallas is home to New Orleans this Sunday, and this week doesn't appear to be the one that backup quarterback Jon Kitna begins to target Witten more.
Witten has just eight receptions in the past three games, and that certainly doesn't bode well for fantasy owners. Sit Witten.
Start Em: BenJarvus Green-Ellis
7 of 10
BenJarvus Green-Ellis' name isn't the only thing getting him attention, his play on the field as of late has caused many NFL fans to take notice.
Green-Ellis and the Patriots will kick off Week 12 on the road in Detroit on Thanksgiving Day. Look for the back to pick up where he left off last week against Indianapolis with another big game.
It seems as if Green-Ellis is a lock for 20 carries, 100 yards and a touchdown week in and week out.
Sit Em: Jay Cutler
8 of 10
Jay Cutler and the Bears host the soaring Eagles on Sunday. Not exactly a favorable matchup for the interception-prone quarterback.
Asante Samuel has terrorized opposing quarterbacks this season, and the Philadelphia defense is coming off a near-dominating performance against the Giants last Sunday night.
Cutler has been known to lock onto receivers when he is pressured, and remember, interceptions can cost you points in fantasy football. Sit Cutler this week.
Start Em: Nate Washington
9 of 10
The Titans' receiver is going up against the worst pass defense in the NFL in the Houston Texans.
Houston's secondary has been almost invisible the past two weeks after giving up game-winning touchdowns through the air to lose each game.
Regardless of who starts at quarterback for Tennessee, look to start Nate Washington, he is the team's leading receiver and is sure to get open against Houston.
Sit Em: Josh Freeman
10 of 10
The second-year quarterback has been as solid as it gets for the Buccaneers this season, throwing for 14 touchdowns to only five interceptions.
But Sunday, Freeman will face a totally different kind of beast when he lines up against the Baltimore Ravens defense and playmaker extraordinaire Ed Reed.
The Ravens are undefeated at home and this matchup looks daunting for Freeman and the Buccaneers. Try sitting him this week.
