Fantasy Football Week 12: Chris Ivory and the Top Waiver Wire Pickups

Frank FittipaldiNov 22, 2010

We are heading into Week 12 of the 2010 season and the waiver wire is beginning to run thin. Although, options may be running out, there is always somebody available to pick up.

There were not many great performances on the waiver wire during Week 11, but there are definitely some players worthy of giving a look in case of injuries.

Here are the top pickups for fantasy owners for Week 12.

Brandon Gibson, WR, St. Louis Rams

St. Louis Rams' young wide receiver Brandon Gibson has stepped in recent weeks. He is averaging over six receptions in each of those three games and has reached the end zone once.

Gibson did not light up the stat sheet, but he did catch five passes for 42 yards and a touchdown. If fantasy owners are in need of a wide receiver or a flex position, Gibson can be a solid pickup.

Jordan Shipley, WR, Cincinnati Bengals

Bengals' wide receiver has shown up on the list for waiver wire pickups earlier in the season, and now he is back. After probably being dropped by most owners, Shipley had solid performance in Week 11. Shipley caught five passes for 72 yards but failed to reach the end zone.

The rookie from Texas is not going to put up eye popping numbers, but he can be a solid start at the flex position with the Bengals throwing the football as much as they do.

Ben Obomanu, WR, Seattle Seahawks

Who? Probably the same question everyone has been asking. Seattle Seahawks' receiver Ben Obomanu caught just 10 passes all season before Week 11. He caught half of that against the Saints for 87 yards and a touchdown.

It is difficult to say that Obomanu will repeat this type of performance, but he might gain the respect of quarterback Matt Hasselbeck and get more looks. The waiver wire is thin and Obomanu is one of the best available so add him if you can.

The Seahawks are home against the Chiefs in Week 12.

Houston Texans backup tight end Joel Dreessen has stepped up nicely since the absence of starter Owen Daniels. Daniels had his biggest game of the year in Week 11 against the Jets when he caught four passes for 106 yards and a score.

Dreessen can remain a nice option for fantasy owners with the injury to Owen Daniels so get your hands on Dreessen if he is available.

The Texans are home against the Titans in Week 12.

Chris Ivory, RB, New Orleans Saints

New Orleans Saints' running back Chris Ivory was a popular pickup after is 158-yard game in Week 6, but he was probably let go shortly after that.

Ivory put himself back on the map in Week 11 against the Seahawks when he carried the ball 23 times for 99 yards, falling one yard shy of his second 100-yard games. Ivory also reached the end zone during the Saints win so owners will be looking to get their claims in on Ivory during the week.

The Saints travel to Dallas in Week 12.
