Tampa Bay Lightning: Steven Stamkos Lighting Up Fantasy NHL's Week 7 Hot Players

Brandon GalvinNov 20, 2010

This week saw the return of the New York Rangers’ most important offensive player. One of the top overall fantasy picks lit the league on fire, but who was it? A defender produced in nearly all categories, while one of the premiere goalies appears to be getting back on track.

C Steven Stamkos, Tampa Bay Lightning

Stamkos is scorching hot at the moment, ripping through the NHL. In the past week, Stamkos has an incredible line consisting of five goals on 11 shot attempts and four assists. Oddly enough, he sits at zero for plus/minus, but if one player is dominating three categories, fantasy owners can’t complain much.

LW Jussi Jokinen, Carolina Hurricanes

Who? It doesn’t matter.

Jokinen just set the league on fire.

In the past week he has two goals, six assists and is plus-five.

Jokinen is an ideal pickup for those who need help at the wing position.

RW Marian Gaborik, New York Rangers

Gaborik returned from injury with a vengeance.

Over the week, he had four goals, including one game with a hat trick. He is plus-five, as well.

Gaborik is a premiere fantasy player when healthy. As long as he is on the ice, he will put up great stats.

D John-Michael Liles, Colorado Avalanche

Liles is on a tear at the moment, producing in nearly every single category from the defenseman position, which is a rare feat.

In the past week, Liles has scored three goals on 11 shot attempts. He also has three assists and is plus-two.

Liles must be in all fantasy lineups.

G Ryan Miller, Buffalo Sabres

Miller, the top-rated goalie heading into the season, is starting to pick it up.

Although he has given up some goals, he has a respectable .922 save percentage. The most important statistic is that he has three wins this week despite giving up an average of just under 2.5 goals per game.
