Fantasy Football Week 11 NFL Rankings: Wide Receivers

Bruno Boys Fantasy FootballNov 20, 2010

The fantasy playoffs are fast approaching and owners are probably evaluating the moves they didn’t make at this point.

For example, several owners are probably kicking themselves for not picking up Brandon Lloyd for weeks even though he was proving to be productive week after week despite a lousy performance history in recent years.

Other owners are probably kicking themselves for using a high pick on Carolina Panthers receiver Steve Smith when they could have possibly gotten MVP candidate Phillip Rivers or DeSean Jackson instead.

Fantasy owners hate this fact, but some things can’t be evaluated and the right pickup at the right time or the right draft pick can make the most inexperienced owner a champion.  However, the unpredictability is what also makes this game so wonderful.

Now it’s time to take a look at our Week 11 fantasy football wide receiver rankings.

1. Calvin Johnson (Detroit Lions) at Dallas

As predicted, Johnson bounced back from a dismal performance last week hauling in a season-high 10 receptions for 128 yards and a touchdown.  Johnson caught a key touchdown in the fourth quarter, but the Detroit Lions were unable to convert the two-point conversion and lost the game, 14-12.

The Dallas Cowboys have been one of the worst teams against opposing wide receivers this season allowing 26.7 fantasy points and 14 touchdowns.

Expect Calvin Johnson to be his same old dominating self come Sunday.

Point Projection:  19 points

2. Roddy White (Atlanta Falcons) at St. Louis

Surprise! Surprise!  A hobbled Rowdy Roddy was the standout performer on the first night of Thursday night football.  He was targeted a whopping 17 times and had 12 receptions for 138 yards and two touchdowns.

White and quarterback Matt Ryan looked like they were communicating telepathically on Thursday and White caught the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter that ended up being the game-winner.

The St. Louis Rams have given up only 18.8 fantasy points per game this year, but no team has really been able to stop White from getting what he wants season.  This game will be no different.

Point Projection:  18 points

3. Dwayne Bowe (Kansas City Chiefs) vs. Arizona

Too bad the Kansas City Chiefs can’t be down 35 to nothing every game at halftime.  Bowe had a ridiculous 186 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday.

The Kansas City Chiefs were down big early on and were forced to play catch up this one.  Matt Cassel heaved the ball a whopping 53 times and Bowe received 18 of those targets.

Bowe now has eight touchdowns the past five games and that streak isn’t likely to end against the Arizona Cardinals who have allowed 843 yards receiving and a touchdown to opposing wide receivers over the last three games.  Start Bowe and have no worries.

Point Projection:  18 points
