Galveston Pirates Top League With Club America Victory
"It was hard going, but we squeezed it in the end."
The immortal words that Pirate coach Brendan Keyes spoke immediately in the aftermath of the re-arranged Club America tie, well not exactly immortal words but he was happy to have walked away with the three points at the end of the day.
"We made hard work of it but got the 1-0 victory in the end. It wasn't our best performance tonight but we were missing a couple of key players but once we got settled we took control of the game and had some good chances to score."
Clearly relieved, he was quick to praise Club America, "They played some good football and I think they will do well in this league. For the first 20 minutes they had the edge; they hit the post with one shot and I thought it was in as our keeper was well beaten but our defence was great again, breaking down everything early with Adam Montelongo, for me, playing brilliant again and is looking a great player."
Like a runaway train, Brendan carried on, "The game looked to be heading for a draw when up popped Captain Roy Hernandez to power home a header from 5 yards out to score his 30th goal for the club. I would say his biggest goal for Galveston Pirates to date."
This result moved the Galveston Pirate SC top 'o' the league and you're no'.

Next game of note for the Pirates is their derby match with local rivals and title challengers, Regals FC, who themselves remain unbeaten and like the Pirates, have only conceded the one league goal thus far.
Mark it in your diary folks, it's gonny be a big one!
