NFL Picks Week 11: Can Broncos Take Control of AFC West vs. Chargers?

branden petersNov 18, 2010

NFL Week 11 picks and predictions have arrived. The schedule is full of meaningful games, old school rivalries and possible upsets.

While most NFL fans will have their eyes on the match up between the Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, there is another battle going on out west that could have serious playoff implications.

The Kyle Orton led Denver Broncos head into San Diego to play the Chargers on Monday Night Football. The Broncos are coming off of their biggest game of the year with a blowout victory over AFC West rivals the Chiefs and they hope to derail the Chargers annual late season march to the AFC West title.

On the east coast, Mike Vick looks to continue his season of redemption against the Giants. The two teams are tied for first place and the winner will be among the cream of the crop in the NFC.

Here's a complete look at NFL Week 11 picks.

No. 16: Chicago at Miami

Why Chicago Could Win: Even though Chicago’s offense is inconsistent Jay Cutler has been much better as of late. Devin Hester could have a field day against Miami’s shaky special teams.

Why Miami Could Win: Tyler Thigpen is coming off a big win against a quality Titans team. Miami may be hitting their stride after struggling at home all season long

Prediction: Miami gets their second straight home win off the backs of the defense.

Score: Chicago 16, Miami 24

No. 15: Buffalo at Cincinnati

2 of 16
ORCHARD PARK, NY - NOVEMBER 14: Ryan Fitzpatrick #14 of the Buffalo Bills readies to throw against the Detroit Lions at Ralph Wilson Stadium on November 14, 2010 in Orchard Park, New York. Buffalo won 14-12. (Photo by Rick Stewart/Getty Images)

Why Buffalo Could Win: Winning is contagious. The Bills put it all together last week for their first win and Cincinnati is one of the most dysfunctional teams in the NFL.

Why Cincinnati Could Win: The Bengals have home field advantage.

Prediction: Buffalo’s surprisingly good secondary will exploit Palmer’s deficiencies.

Score: Buffalo 31, Cincinnati 21

No. 14: Detroit at Dallas

3 of 16
EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - NOVEMBER 14: Head coach Jason Garrett of the Dallas Cowboys talks with Marion Barber #24 as his team warms up prior to playing against the New York Giants on November 14, 2010 at the New Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, New J

Why Detroit Could Win: Detroit will keep it close like they have done all season. Detroit's defensive line should pound Kitna all day.

Why Dallas Could Win: The Cowboys rallied around interim coach Jason Garrett last Sunday. With so much talent on defense look for Dallas to take advantage of a young Lions team.

Prediction: Detroit hasn't learned how to close out games yet. Cowboys will win a tight one.

Score: Dallas 37, Detroit 34

Why Cleveland Could Win: Browns defense is capable of getting enough stops against the Jags to pull out a win.

Why Jacksonville Could Win: Jaguars are good and they clearly have luck on their side. Garrard is playing well and Maurice Jones-Drew is running hard.

Prediction: Cleveland has six hobbled defensive players. Expect a fresh Jags squad to run them over.

Score: Jacksonville 34, Cleveland 21

No. 12: Baltimore at Carolina

5 of 16
ATLANTA - NOVEMBER 11: Quarterback Joe Flacco #5 of the Baltimore Ravens looks to pass against the Atlanta Falcons at Georgia Dome on November 11, 2010 in Atlanta, Georgia. (Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)

Why Baltimore Could Win: The Ravens are simply better and deeper at every position.

Why Carolina Could Win: Buffalo gave the Ravens a run for their money so maybe Carolina can too. I doubt it.

Prediction: The Ravens secondary is unstable but the front 7 will give Panthers starter Brian St. Pierre fits all day.

Score: Baltimore 42, Carolina 6

No. 11: Green Bay at Minnesota

6 of 16
GREEN BAY, WI - NOVEMBER 07: John Kuhn #30 of the Green Bay Packers runs against the Dallas Cowboys at Lambeau Field on November 7, 2010 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Packers defeated the Cowboys 45-7. (Photo by Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images)

Why Green Bay Could Win: The Vikings have not beat a quality team all season. Their lack of a running game should not be much of an issue against a weak Vikings team.

Why Minnesota Could Win: When you have the leagues leading rusher in Adrian Peterson on the field then you always have a shot.

Prediction: Favre says his shoulder is okay but Percy Harvin is questionable. It's going to a be a long day for the Vikings offense.

Score: Green Bay 24, Minnesota 17

No. 10 Houston at New York Jets

7 of 16

Why Houston Could Win: The Jets are just 2-2 at home. If Schaub and Andre Johnson hook up on enough big plays they could eek out a win.

Why the New York Jets Could Win: Texans secondary is very poor, Sanchez should put up big numbers.

Prediction: Jets explode in the second half with a couple long passes to Santonio Holmes.

Score: New York Jets 34S, Houston 20

No. 9: Washington at Tennessee

8 of 16
MIAMI - NOVEMBER 14: Wide receiver Randy Moss #84 of the Tennessee Titans makes a catch against the Miami Dolphins at Sun Life Stadium on November 14, 2010 in Miami, Florida. (Photo by Marc Serota/Getty Images)

Why Washington Could Win: The Skins need this win to justify the McNabb contract and to have any hopes of staying within shouting distance of the Giants and Eagles.

Why Tennessee Could Win: Chris Johnson will have a big day against the 25th ranked rushing defense in the league.

Prediction: Randy Moss is three catches away from 8th place on the all-time receptions list. He will get that many and more in a close win.

Score: Tennessee 24, Washington 21

No. 8: Arizona at Kansas City

9 of 16
DENVER - NOVEMBER 14: Dwayne Bowe #82 of the Kansas City Chiefs welcomes his teammates onto the field for warm ups as they face the Denver Broncos at INVESCO Field at Mile High on November 14, 2010 in Denver, Colorado. The Broncos defeated the Chiefs 49-

Why Arizona Could Win: The Chiefs defense has been exposed in back to back losses. Derek Anderson should excel against their secondary

Why Kansas City Could Win: Chiefs are undefeated at home and Arizona could be the worst team in the league.

Prediction: The Chiefs' special teams will put this one out of reach early.

Score: Kansas City 34, Arizona 13

No. 7: Oakland at Pittsburgh

10 of 16
OAKLAND, CA - NOVEMBER 07: Darren McFadden #20 of the Oakland Raiders runs against the Kansas City Chiefs during an NFL game at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum on November 7, 2010 in Oakland, California. (Photo by Jed Jacobsohn/Getty Images)

Why Oakland Could Win: Raiders are healthy coming off of a bye. Jacoby Ford and Zach Miller could expose the Steelers corners.

Why Pittsburgh Could Win: The Steelers are angry after a blowout loss to the Pats. Rashard Mendenhall should have a big game.

Prediction: The Raiders Zach Miller pulls in a touchdown reception with seconds left to upset the Steelers.

Score: Oakland: 21 Pittsburgh: 17

No. 6: Atlanta at St. Louis

11 of 16

Why Atlanta Could Win: Atlanta is simply the better team. Roddy White should continue his stellar season against the Rams.

Why St. Louis Could Win: Rams could catch the Falcons looking ahead to their NFC showdown with the Packers.

Prediction: Rams will keep it close but the Falcons talent and depth will push them over the top late.

Score: Atlanta 34, St. Louis 31

No. 5: Seattle at New Orleans

12 of 16
SAN FRANCISCO - SEPTEMBER 20: Reggie Bush #25 of the New Orleans Saints in action during their game against the San Francisco 49ers at Candlestick Park on September 20, 2010 in San Francisco, California. (Photo by Ezra Shaw/Getty Images)

Why Seattle Could Win: Pete Carroll's team is unpredictable, no one knows what team will show up week to week. Coming off of a blowout win, they could have the confidence to beat the Saints.

Why New Orleans Could Win: With Bush back, Brees will have a field day against the Seahawks weak defense.

Prediction: The Saints are hitting their stride again. They will show why they won the Super Bowl last season

Score: New Orleans 42, Seattle 16

No. 4: Tampa Bay at San Francisco

13 of 16
SAN FRANCISCO - NOVEMBER 14: Troy Smith #49 of the San Francisco 49ers looks to pass the ball during their game against the St. Louis Rams at Candlestick Park on November 14, 2010 in San Francisco, California. (Photo by Ezra Shaw/Getty Images)

Why Tampa Bay Could Win: TB is a tough road team and if the 49ers have showed anything it's that they will give a game away.

Why San Francisco Could Win: Frank Gore should be able to run all over the putrid Bucs rushing defense.

Prediction: Troy Smith has rejuvenated the 49ers offense. If the offensive line can keep the penalties to a minimum, SF will keep the Bucs off balance on the way to a solid win.

Score: San Francisco 17, Tampa Bay 13

No. 3: Indianapolis at New England

14 of 16
SAN DIEGO - OCTOBER 24: Quarterback Tom Brady #12 of the New England speak to Head Coach Bill Belichick against the San Diego Chargers during their NFL game on October 24, 2010 at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, California. (Photo by Donald Miralle/Getty

Why Indianapolis Could Win: The young Pats secondary is no match for Peyton Manning and his makeshift receiving corps.

Why New England Could Win: After beating the Steelers, the Patriots are confident and playing their rivals at home, a place they rarely lose in.

Prediction: Brady and company eek out a close win with a last second field goal.

Score: New England 31, Indianapolis 28

No. 2: New York Giants at Philadelphia

15 of 16
EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - DECEMBER 13: Eli Manning #10 of the New York Giants talks with Michael Vick #7 of the Philadelphia Eagles after their game at Giants Stadium on December 13, 2009 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. (Photo by Nick Laham/Getty Images)

Why the New York Giants Could Win: Coming off of their worst loss of the season, the Giants still have one of the NFC's best defenses. Couple that with the shoddy Eagles offensive line and the Giants have a shot.

Why Philadelphia Could Win: Vick and the Eagles are coming off of one of the biggest wins in team history. If Vick is on his game the Giants are going down.

Prediction: The Eagles strike early and withstand a late rally by the Giants for a slim win.

Score: Philadelphia 28, New York Giants 24

No. 1: Denver at San Diego

16 of 16
SAN DIEGO - OCTOBER 31: Quarterback Philip Rivers #17 of the San Diego Chargers plays in the game against the Tennessee Titans at Qualcomm Stadium on October 31, 2010 in San Diego, California. The Chargers defeated the Titans 33-25. (Photo by Jeff Gross

Why Denver Could Win: Kyle Orton and Tim Tebow are figuring out how to get the Broncos offense in the end zone. Broncos could also take advantage of horrible Chargers special teams.

Why San Diego Could Win: Men lie, women lie and apparently numbers do too. The Chargers are 1st in total offense and 2nd in total defense but so far this season that hasn't amounted in a lot of wins. The Chargers can exploit Denver's defense and get their record closer to a respectable level

Prediction: TE Gates returns to the lineup with a big game to end the Broncos short lived resurgence.

Score: San Diego 28, Denver 17
