NFL 2010-2011 Midseason Playoff Picture Predictions

Robert MelendezNov 17, 2010

Well, here we are at the mid-season point of the 2010 - 2011 NFL season and this may be the best Playoff race in years. Teams that looked out early are back in contention and teams that haven't been taken seriously in sometime are showing up and making a name for themselves. Here are my mid-season predictions.

AFC NORTH DIVISION CHAMPS: The Baltimore Ravens

One of the many tough division races in the NFL this year but I have the Ravens pulling this one out and taking the division. The way Ray Rice has been playing as a running and receiving threat and the defense playing as they are, this team may be the most balanced team on offense and defense in the NFL.

AFC SOUTH DIVISION CHAMPS: The Indianapolis Colts

2 of 12

After Houston embarrassed the Colts at the beginning of the season everyone christened the Texans as the leaders of the south but now it looks like the Texans have fallen off the map and Tennessee along with them. I like the way all these teams play especially the Jaguars as of late but the Colts repeat what they're good at take the AFC South crown.

AFC WEST DIVISION CHAMPS: The Oakland Raiders

This has to be one of the weirdest divisions in the NFL right now. Everyone including myself pegged the San Diego Chargers as the clear cut winners of this division but less than stellar play at the beginning of the season San Diego has taken a back seat to Oakland and Kansas City. Kansas City is in the same boat as Houston, Both started the season hot and have cooled down as of late allowing the offensively dangerous Raiders take the lead and in my view take the division.

AFC EAST DIVISION CHAMPS: The New England Patriots

I know most people believe the Jets will win the division but I still strongly believe that Jets will find a way to fall off the map and miss the playoffs. The Patriots like the Ravens are the most balance team in  the NFL and still prove they are the team to beat in the Division, Conference, and the quite possibly league.

AFC WILD CARD SLOT NUMBER ONE: Pittsburgh Steelers

Even with a bad offensive line, Pittsburgh always find a way to win or stay in games. I don't thinks its a question that Pittsburgh will make the playoffs, its more of how far will they go.

AFC WILD CARD SLOT NUMBER TWO: Miami Dolphins

6 of 12
MIAMI - NOVEMBER 14: Quarterback Tyler Thigpen #16 of the Miami Dolphins passes against the Tennessee Titans at Sun Life Stadium on November 14, 2010 in Miami, Florida. (Photo by Marc Serota/Getty Images)

Miami is on their third quarterback this year and that is enough to write them off but game in and game out they are in it until the end and with the hard part of the schedule in the books and still above 500. at  5-4 Miami will in my view make a stand and secure the last playoff spot. With their defense playing the way they have with Karlos Dansby and Cameron Wake leading the charge Miami might be a scary team to face in the hunt.

NFC NORTH DIVISION CHAMPS: The Chicago Bears

7 of 12

Sorry Brett but you will make the playoffs this year. Either Chicago or Green Bay will take the division but with the injuries that Green Bay have its hard to make a strong case for them besides having Aaron Rodgers. The way the defense has been playing as well as the special teams the Bears resemble the same team that won the NFC and went to the Super Bowl, as long as Cutler doesn't keep making mistakes the Bears beat Green Bay in a tie breaker.

NFC SOUTH DIVISION CHAMPS: The Atlanta Falcons

8 of 12

The Falcons are the most balanced team in the NFC and Matt Ryan is proving to be one of the elite Quarterbacks in the league with Roddy White to thank.

NFC WEST DIVISION CHAMPS: The St. Louis Rams

9 of 12

Like its AFC counter part; the NFC West is a strange division but I like the Rams here. Bradford is playing like a veteran and not like a rookie, making his team a contender in a very weak division.

NFC EAST DIVISION CHAMPS: The Philadelphia Eagles

10 of 12
LANDOVER, MD - NOVEMBER 15: Michael Vick #7 of the Philadelphia Eagles looks to pass against the Washington Redskins on November 15, 2010 at FedExField in Landover, Maryland. (Photo by Chris McGrath/Getty Images)

The New York Giants and the Eagles are playing great football but Michael Vick is the most dangerous player in the league and my mid season MVP. He will take this team to win this division and deep into the playoffs.

NFC WILD CARD SLOT NUMBER ONE: New York Giants

11 of 12

The best team in the wild card spot. This team has everything and like the Falcons, Ravens, and Patriots are one of the most balanced teams in the league and will go very deep in the playoffs.

NFC WILD CARD SLOT NUMBER TWO: New Orleans Saints

The defending Champs beat out the Packers and find they're way into the playoffs. How long will they last? thats a good question.
