Fantasy Football Week 11: 10 Smartest Start'em, Sit'em Moves of the Week
Fantasy Football gurus unite, we have a look at which owners are going to be rolling in points this week, and which ones will be hoping they have someone else on their team who can start.
We have 10 sure things, and 10 players who probably won't have good weeks, and it's time to play it safe and just bench them until next week.
As you can see by our lead picture, Michael Vick is featured in this piece, but do we recommend you start him or sit him?
Read on to find out.
10. Sit 'em: Matt Hasselbeck
1 of 20
Matt Hasselbeck is facing the New Orleans Saints defense behind an offensive line that is best described as "patchwork."
It's probably best if Hasselbeck faked a concussion in the first quarter and just come back next week.
10. Start 'em: Peyton Hillis
2 of 20
Hillis is a monster who still got 82 yards and a touchdown versus the Jets fourth-ranked rush defense last week.
Against the Jaguars 21st-ranked rush defense, Hillis should have a lot more than 100 yards and possibly two touchdowns again. He's pretty much the entire Browns backfield, and there are no touchdown thieves to be found there.
9. Sit 'em: Hines Ward
3 of 20
Ward got blown up last week and left the game with a concussion. Now the Steelers face Oakland's defense, which isn't soft.
Guaranteed Ward will be a hunted man this week, and it's probably best to look elsewhere for wide receiver points.
9. Start 'em: Calvin Johnson
4 of 20
Calvin Johnson is a stud wide receiver, and he's going to have a good day against the Dallas defense. Granted the defense may look a little better than it did under Wade Phillips, but Johnson is better than anyone the Cowboys will have on the field to cover him Sunday.
8. Sit 'em: Brandon Marshall
5 of 20
The Dolphins haven't been able to figure out what to do with Brandon Marshall all year, and now they're on their third quarterback.
Marshall's frustrations will continue for another week. Move along, nothing to see here.
8. Start 'em: Dez Bryant
6 of 20
Understand that Dez Bryant is going to be one of the best wide receivers in the league sooner rather than later, and that this week he will outclass the Detroit secondary and score big because the Cowboys want you to know that they will throw, and throw often.
Bryant will fight for the ball and come out on top, that is if he hasn't left his coverage in the dust.
7. Sit 'em: Brett Favre
7 of 20
Brett Favre showed he could still put up some good fantasy numbers versus the Arizona Cardinals a few weeks ago.
The Packers are not the Arizona Cardinals.
Even if Favre hasn't retired from the league just yet, it's probably time you retired him from your league.
7. Start 'em: Thomas Jones
8 of 20
The Chiefs are playing the Arizona Cardinals, so if you have Thomas Jones, get him off the bench immediately.
The Cardinals can't stop much of anything this year.
6. Sit 'em: Vince Young
9 of 20
Assuming Young starts, find another quarterback on your team, this will be Chris Johnson's day and Young will just be a game manager with that bum knee.
6. Start 'em: Maurice Jones-Drew
10 of 20
Despite the recent success of the Cleveland Browns offense, their depth is thin and now the injury bug is biting.
Maurice Jones-Drew is too talented a runner to let one or two players stop him, and the Browns will have to work on keeping him from scoring more than two or three times.
5. Sit 'em: Carson Palmer
11 of 20
Carson Palmer's days as an actual NFL starter look numbered at this point, so it's probably best to not start him this week against the Bills because Palmer might think he'll be able to force passes, and that will just lead to more interceptions.
5. Start 'em: Phillip Rivers
12 of 20
If Jason Campbell can put up big numbers against the Broncos defense, just think what Phillip Rivers is going to do.
It's going to be a good day for Phillip Rivers owners.
4. Sit 'em: Steven Jackson
13 of 20
The Falcons run defense is ranked seventh in the league and the Falcons want to put some distance between themselves and the rest of the division.
Corey Peters and Jon Babineaux will be shutting down the inside lanes while the rest of the defense closes out the outside.
Jackson will be lucky to get 50 yards on the day, just bench him and wait for better times.
4. Start 'em: Kyle Orton
14 of 20
Even with how good the Chargers defense is, they still give up points and Kyle Orton has been a fantasy owner's dream this year.
Plus, even with Tim Tebow acting as a touchdown thief on a few occassions, it hasn't really hurt Orton that much because he's still putting points on the board.
Get Orton out there and reap the rewards.
3. Sit 'em: Arian Foster
15 of 20
The Jets have the fifth-ranked run defense in the league, and they held Peyton Hillis to less than 100 yards and one touchdown last week.
Foster isn't as big and bruising as Hillis, so he'll probably get less than that.
Bench Foster to fight another day.
3. Start 'em: Tom Brady
16 of 20
Hey! Look! It's Tom Brady on a positive fantasy football list! It's 2007 again!
Well, not really, but Brady definitely found a rhythm last week, and if there's one thing the Patriots are good at, it's keeping good things going from week to week.
The Colts have the 10th-ranked pass defense in the league, but that will be lower after Sunday.
2. Sit 'em: Darren McFadden
17 of 20
Darren McFadden is going up against the Steelers defense.
You just don't run on the Steelers defense.
There will be yellow crime scene tape on the scene at this game if McFadden gets 25-30 carries.
2. Start 'em: Joe Flacco
18 of 20
This is Joe Flacco walking off the field after the Atlanta game where he had 215 yards and three touchdowns with one pick.
Now he face the Carolina defense, or what passes for the Carolina defense.
I can see the Flacco owners now, feet up on the desk, cigar in mouth, counting their ill-gotten gains.
1. Sit 'em: Eli Manning
19 of 20
Eli Manning can be a bit of a streaky quarterback sometimes, and the "bad" Eli Manning was poking out the jersey last week versus the Cowboys.
What that usually means is the "bad" Eli Manning will be in full control this week versus the Eagles and you would be better off starting his brother against the Patriots defense, not that that would be a great option, just a better one than this.
1. Start 'em: Michael Vick
20 of 20
Understand that the Giants defense is better than the Redskins defense and that Vick won't have the same kind of numbers he had Monday night.
With that understanding, though, comes the realization Andy Reid has not yet fully exploited Vick's talents yet and that we're probably going to see some new wrinkles on Sunday versus the Giants that still will add up to very good numbers.
The Eagles are on a roll, and that most likely won't end this week.
