NFL Dallas Cowboys Injury Report: Week 9
The Cowboys had a few players get banged up in their win against the Giants, but the injuries don't seem too serious.
Cornerback Mike Jenkins suffered a neck injury in the second quarter against the Giants last week. Head coach Jason Garrett said that he was encouraged by the training staff's diagnosis and Jenkins will be monitored throughout the week. It's unclear at this point if he will play on Sunday against the Lions.
Cornerback Terence Newman has been playing with a rib injury for three weeks, but suffered an ankle injury on Sunday. Garrett is hopeful that Jenkins can play on Sunday, but it's not clear yet. If Jenkins and Newman can't go, the Cowboys will go with Orlando Scandrick and Brian McCann as the starters.
Linebacker Anthony Spencer played against the Giants with a slight neck sprain. Backup Victor Butler took some of Spencer's reps in the game and Spencer is expected to play against the Lions on Sunday.
Linebacker Bradie James and guard Montrae Holland have come back from their injures. James started last week and is expected to start this week, and Holland is expected to be the first backup on the offensive line.
Defensive end Jason Hatcher (Groin) and quarterback Tony Romo (Collarbone) will miss additional time with their injuries.
