Week 11 NFL Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Advice: Get 'em or Don't Sweat 'em
There were some unusual heroes on Sunday. There always are. Letโs take a look at them and see if they are worthy of your fantasy rosters.
Quarterbacks
Shaun Hill, Detroit Lions
Hill had another strong game throwing for 323 yards and a score. Heโs not as obvious a selection with the bye weeks gone, but he does offer good depth.
Ruling: Get โem.
Mark Sanchez, New York Jets
Sanchez survived an injury scare to throw for 299 yards and 2 TDs. He also ran one in. With Houston on deck, heโs not a bad play.
Ruling: Get โem.
Matt Cassel, Kansas City Chiefs
Cassel torched the Broncos for 469 yards and 4 TDs. He has 12 touchdown passes in his past five games; with Arizona and Seattle coming up, he could continue to roll.
Ruling: Get โem.
Jon Kitna, Dallas Cowboys
Jason Garrett and Jon Kitna had the Cowboys offense humming against the Giants. He threw for 327 yards and 3 TDs. More importantly, he got gamebreakers Dez Bryant and Felix Jones heavily involved. I like his prospects going forward.
Ruling: Get โem.
Matt Hasselbeck, Seattle Seahawks
Hasselbeck threw for 333 yards and a score. They were playing the Cardinals, though, who made Brett Favre look like the Hall of Famer he is. I wouldnโt bank on Hasselbeck putting up big games going forward, even if he is able to play through the broken bone on his non-throwing wrist.
Ruling: Donโt Sweat โem.
Derek Anderson, Arizona Cardinals
DA threw for 322 yards and a TD. The Cardinals are a bad team, but he has good weapons so I can see some interest, but look elsewhere.
Ruling: Donโt Sweat โem.
Troy Smith, San Francisco 49ers
Smith threw for 356 yards and a TD. Great game, but Iโm not ready to rely on him in QB leagues.
Ruling: ย Donโt Sweat โem.
Running Backs
Javarris James, Indianapolis Colts
James ran for 26 yards and a score. The cavalry, namely Joseph Addai, is supposed to get healthy soon, making James obsolete.
Ruling: Donโt Sweat โem.
Mike Goodson, Carolina Panthers
Goodson ran for 100 yards on 23 carries and added three catches for 13 yards. DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart should return next week, but Goodson will still get some looks. This was likely the last week heโll be a fantasy option.
Ruling: Donโt Sweat โem.
Cadillac Williams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Cadillac ran for 62 yards and a score and added 23 yards on two catches. Heโs just a backup with a cool name at this point.
Ruling: ย Donโt Sweat โem.
Wide Receivers
Arrelious Benn, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Benn caught two passes for 29 yards and a touchdown. It was the second straight week he's scored, but heโs not getting targeted enough for fantasy purposes.
Ruling: Donโt Sweat โem.
Kevin Walter, Houston Texans
Walter caught six passes for 90 yards and a score. He hasnโt done much since opening the season with a touchdown in the first three games. He has a tough schedule ahead which diminishes his fantasy value, but he still is a good bench option.
Ruling: Get โem.
Mike Thomas, Jacksonville Jaguars
We were high on Thomas going into the game, and he delivered. He had eight catches for 149 yards, including the 50 yard game-winner. He also ran for 18 yards. Thomas should be owned in most fantasy leagues.
Ruling: Get โem.
Chris Chambers, Kansas City Chiefs
Chambers caught four passes for 36 yards and a TD. He hasnโt done much on the year, and I donโt expect him to finish strong.
Ruling: Donโt Sweat โem.
Early Doucet, Arizona Cardinals
Doucet caught six passes for 71 yards and a touchdown. He hasnโt done much this season, so I wouldnโt run out and grab him just yet.
Ruling: Donโt Sweat โem.
Tight Ends
Greg Olsen, Chicago Bears
Heโs not having a banner year, but Olsen has scored in consecutive weeks. With Detroit, Minnesota and New England scheduled in Weeks 13-15, heโs a good player to nab.
Ruling: Get โem.
Benjamin Watson, Cleveland Browns
Watson continued his trend of playing well against aggressive defenses. His two best games have come against Baltimore and Pittsburgh. He caught five passes for 74 yards against the Jets. Though Jacksonville isnโt a tough defensive unit, he still could put together a decent game next week.
Ruling: Get โem.
Anthony Fasano, Miami Dolphins
Fasano caught five passes for 107 yards and a touchdown. With the bye weeks past us, thereโs no reason to use him.
Ruling: Donโt Sweat โem.
Zach Miller, Jacksonville Jaguars
With the Raidersโ Zach Miller on a bye, the Jaguars' version played like him. He caught four passes for 79 yards and a score. However, only Oaklandโs version should be owned.
Ruling: Donโt Sweat โem.
Kevin Boss, New York Giants
Boss caught four passes for 67 yards and a touchdown. It was his second straight game with a score. Still, Iโm not ready to pencil him into a fantasy lineup.
Ruling: Donโt Sweat โem.
Rob Gronkowski, New England Patriots
Gronkowski had his coming out party catching five passes for 72 yards and 3 TDs. Aaron Hernandez did not catch a ball. Heโs been more active in recent weeks and has 6 TDs on the year. Without a deep game, Brady could look to the tight ends more frequently. Given Gronkowkiโs ability in the red zone, he may be worth a look.
Ruling: Get โem.
