Jose Mourinho Receives Two-Game Ban For Insulting Referee

Roberto Alvarez-GallosoNov 12, 2010

Jose Mourinho has just received a two game suspension from the Spanish FA Competition Committee for insulting a referee during Real Madrid's game against Real Murcia.

During the first half of the game, Mourinho was arguing with referee Jose Luis Paradas Romero about his rulings.

The arguments turned to comments which were classified as "disrespectful" by the governing body of the Spanish FA.

The reasons for the ban for Mourinho was based on Article 117 of the Spanish FA Competition Committee. The ban was issued in the official webpage of Real Madrid.

The result is that Mourinho will not be present at the next two games between Real Madrid and Sporting Gijon, as well as its following game against Club Atletico Bilbao.

The suspension itself did not affect the results, with Real Madrid beating Real Murcia 5-1. While the suspension has been a setback, Mourinho and Real Madrid have gone 100 days without losing a game since preseason.

It remains to be seen what will transpire for Real Madrid and Mourinho. Real Madrid will probably continue to win even though Mourinho is on the sidelines.

Mourinho himself has never been a stranger to controversy, especially during his period as coach of the Chelsea FC.

Is the Spanish Football Federation right in banning Mourinho?
