NHL Week 6: Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals Fantasy Edition

This week’s edition is littered with Washington Capitals players due to the teams current torrid fantasy pace. It seems the team can do no wrong. Everyone expected to excel has done just that. They are even performing above and beyond expectations at the moment.

The team has dominated every position of this edition except for goaltender. All four of these players ranked among the top of their respective positions. They were an easy pick for fantasy owners to make during their draft, which should provide owners with a gigantic smile, as these players are contributing in multiple fantasy categories.

Backstrom has dominated in the past seven days.

He may not have a goal, but when a player is dominating two categories like that, it doesn’t matter.

The Capitals have been on fire this week and Ovechkin is leading the way.

Ovechkin scored twice this week on 14 shot attempts. More importantly, he has recorded six assists and is a stunning plus-six plus/minus.

The top fantasy player in the game continues to get the job done across the board.

Alexander Semin, Washington Capitals

Like the rest of his teammates, Semin is scorching hot at the moment.

Arguably the No. 1 player for the week, Semin scored five times on 20 shot attempts and dished out 3 assists. He is plus-four plus/minus and shows no signs of letting up just like the rest of his teammates.

Defenseman

Mike Green, Washington Capitals

The top-ranked defenseman lived up to his top billing this week.

Green tallied 2 goals, 3 assists, plus-three plus/minus, seven penalty minutes and 8 shots on goal.

It is a great feeling when a fantasy owner’s defenseman fills up the stat categories across the board.

Carey Price, Montreal Canadiens

Price killed it this past week, recording three victories in four games including one shutout.

In the past four games he has let up 6 goals, saving 125 shot attempts with a save percentage of .954.

When a goaltender is on this type of tear, it is a must to get him in fantasy lineups until signs of a slump erupt.
