Newcastle United's Potential January Transfer Targets
With six weeks remaining until the January transfer window opens Chris Hughton may well be on the lookout for potential signings to but his side which currently sits 5th in the Premier League.
United as usual have been linked with an endless number of new faces since the window closed in August and the Bleacher Report wants to look at which are likely and which are absolute rubbish.
Anderlecht's Jonathan Legear

Touted as the next Christian Wilhelmsson, Jonathan Legear has found his name linked with Newcastle United on more then one occasion this season.
A first call up to the Belgium national side last month against Kazakhstan and has been a regular in the Anderlecht side this season.
The 23-year-old has also suggested that United have already moved in for him. Legear told La Derniere Heure:
"Newcastle have contacted my agent to let him know they are interested in me.”
I need to prove again and show if I have the level to play in the Premier League"
Good chance he could be at St James this season.

La Galaxy's Landon Donovan

American star Landon Donovan has been linked with both United and a return to Everton this January.
The LA Galaxy captain enjoyed a successful 3 month loan at Goodison Park last season in order to keep up his match fitness ahead of the World Cup.
And a return to the Premier League is likely but Donovan admitted he would love to return to the Toffee's making a United deal unlikely.
A deadly partnership with Andy Carroll sounds good but If he is going to go anywhere this January my money is on Everton.
Blackpool's Matt Gilks
3 of 5
Blackpool's impressive star to the season has been boosted by Matt Gilks magnificent performances.
Espically at St James where he almost single handily kept United from scoring with a string of magnificent saves.
And with United no.1 Steve Harper injured it's easy to see why Chris Hughton has been linked with a move for the Scotland international.
But with Tim Krul beginning to prove what United fans have known for a long time - that is a serious contender to be United long term no.1, a move for Gilks would be a shock.
With third choice goalkeeper Fraser Forster impressing for Old Firm giants Celtic as well, a goalkeeper will be the last thing on Hughton's mind this January.
Sporting Lisbon's Mattias Fernandez
4 of 5
Newcastle were rumoured to be top of the list for a move for Mattias Fernandez as a replacement for injured loanee Hatem Ben Arfa.
The creative Chilean has impressed in Portugal this season but a move seems unlikely after his agent dismissed Newcastle's interest.
Alejandro Santiesteban told Portuguese media:
"I'm not aware of the reported interest in Matias from Newcastle,
"Nobody has got in touch with me so I think it must be a rumour.
"If a team is really interested in a player and has to pay a transfer fee then they have to get in touch with me and the club. That hasn't happened
Fiorentina's Alberto Gilardino
5 of 5
Alberto Gilardino was linked with a sensational £15million move to United in September.
The Italian forward who is unhappy with life at Viola after questioning the club's ambition.
At 28 years of age the Former AC Milan star is in his prime but the £15million fee seems far above the money Hughton has been forced to work with so far.
The Italian's wage demands would also go above the current wages been given by United of around £30 000 and under.
This deal seems more fiction then fact and a move I would be amazed to see happen.
