Fantasy Football Week 10: 10 Players To Bury on the Bench This Week

Tom KinslowNov 11, 2010

Fantasy football Week 10 is upon us and it's time for you to know which players to avoid so you can have a relaxing Sunday watching your team cruise to victory.

I've given you 10 players that you need to avoid in order to have a winning team and if you have any questions on any other players, feel free to ask me. I'd love to answer them for you. Good luck this Sunday as your teams fight for the playoffs.

No. 10: Brandon Jacobs

As Ahmad Bradshaw takes more and more of the workload in New York, Jacobs becomes less valuable.

Sure, he may vulture a goal line touch or two and that may get him a touchdown, but I'm not so sure that's going to happen. It's a risky play and one I'm not willing to take, especially if you're in a tight race for the playoffs.

Find someone more consistent.

No. 9: Greg Olsen

CHICAGO - SEPTEMBER 27: Greg Olsen #82 of the Chicago Bears runs for yards after the catch against the Green Bay Packers at Soldier Field on September 27, 2010 in Chicago, Illinois. (Photo by Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images)

In Chicago, the tight end isn't exactly what you'd call a highly valued commodity.

Olsen's numbers have been down this year and he's nowhere close to being a valuable fantasy football starter at this point. I'd even go as far as to cut him as I did earlier in the season and just move on from there.

Plus, it's Jay Cutler. Do you really trust him to get the ball to Olsen?

No. 8: Steve Breaston

3 of 10
GLENDALE, AZ - OCTOBER 31: Steve Breaston #15 of the Arizona Cardinals loses a shoe as he eludes the tackle from Myron Lewis #23 of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the fourth quarter at University of Phoenix Stadium on October 31, 2010 in Glendale, Arizo

Remember the good ol' days with the Arizona Cardinals?

They would throw the ball all over and Steve Breaston was a valuable target in the passing game and was worth starting on a weekly basis. Those were good times. Too bad they're all over with Derek Anderson running the show.

Breaston's had one good game this year and other than that, nothing. Just leave him on the bench.

No. 7: Chad Pennington

How is this guy any better then Chad Henne?

He isn't but he's no better of an option than Henne, especially on your fantasy roster. The Dolphins cannot convert in the red zone and they're going against a Titans defense that is pretty tough to handle. It'll be a long day for Chad Pennington.

It's time for a new quarterback in Miami.

No. 6: Michael Crabtree

5 of 10

The poor quarterback play in San Francisco has really caused issues for Michael Crabtree.

He hasn't performed nearly as well as he did last year and he's not really much of a fantasy option at this point of the season. Troy Smith isn't bad, but he's not great enough to help Crabtree make plays in the passing game.

I'd avoid a lot of players on San Fran's roster.

No. 5: Ronnie Brown

6 of 10
CINCINNATI - OCTOBER 31: Ronnie Brown #23 of the Miami Dolphins runs with the ball during the NFL game against the Cincinnati Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium on October 31, 2010 in Cincinnati, Ohio. (Photo by Andy Lyons/Getty Images)

Ronnie Brown has struggled this year and going against the Titans will be an issue.

He may make some plays out of the Wildcat, but I'm not sure he's going to find much success in the running game. Brown hasn't gotten much of anything going and until he does, I'll leave him on the bench if I'm one of his owners.

The Miami offense is just putrid right now.

No. 4: Kevin Boss

7 of 10
SEATTLE - NOVEMBER 07: Tight end Kevin Boss #89 of the New York Giants looks on during warmups prior to the game against the Seattle Seahawks at Qwest Field on November 7, 2010 in Seattle, Washington. The Giants defeated the Seahawks 41-7. (Photo by Otto

Kevin Boss has had an awful year and there is just no production there.

Eli Manning uses his wideouts more than he does his tight end and Boss just isn't a factor in the offense right now. I'd cut bait with him and look on waivers to try and find a guy who can produce for you other than a few rare catches.

There will be someone there for you. Trust me.

No. 3: Shonn Greene

8 of 10
DENVER - OCTOBER 17: Running back Shonn Greene #23 the New York Jets looks for a hole against the Denver Broncos at INVESCO Field at Mile High on October 17, 2010 in Denver, Colorado. (Photo by Justin Edmonds/Getty Images)

Shonn Greene was poised to have a big year and went higher in drafts than LaDainian Tomlinson. Oops.

Greene has turned into a situational back as Tomlinson has turned into the every down back for the New York Jets. Greene has almost no fantasy value outside of being an emergency flex play and I would use him only if I had to.

Avoid him at all costs.

No. 2: Davone Bess

9 of 10
MIAMI - OCTOBER 24: Receiver Davone Bess #15 scores a touchdown against linebacker Lawrence Timmons #94 of the Pittsburgh Steelers at Sun Life Stadium on October 24, 2010 in Miami, Florida. (Photo by Marc Serota/Getty Images)

Davone Bess was one of Chad Henne's favorite targets and was having a good year.

Too bad Chad Henne's gone now. With Henne gone, I think Bess' numbers are going to drop and that we'll see more balls thrown Brandon Marshall's way as opposed to Bess. Like I've said, the Miami offense is bad and fantasy poison at this point.

Just leave him on the bench and hope he can give you value in later weeks.

No. 1: Brett Favre

10 of 10
MINNEAPOLIS - NOVEMBER 07: Quarterback Brett Favre #4 of the Minnesota Vikings throws a pass against the Arizona Cardinals at Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome on November 7, 2010 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Vikings won 27-24 in overtime. (Photo by Stephe

Oh Brett, how you've torpedoed so many fantasy teams this year.

Favre has been awful this year and outside of last week, hasn't had much fantasy value as a quarterback. He's going against Chicago this week and the Bears are pretty solid defensively and will cause issues for Favre.

Plus, it's just an awful situation in Minnesota. Stay away.
