Minnesota Vikings Soap Opera Continues With Childish Player Comments
I'm not sure these days if the Minnesota Vikings are resembling a football team or a high school Facebook page.
Following the saga of Brad Childress dumping Randy Moss on the waiver wire, getting into a heated argument with Percy Harvin and the large order of duct tape and super glue to put Brett Favre together for one week, things had been looking up for the Vikings after their amazing comeback game last Sunday.
Improving to 3-5, Childress raised eyebrows by taking a swipe at Favre—the zombie quarterback who just threw for a career high 446 yards in a comeback win—at the postgame press conference.

“No, I’m not going to stand here like Brett Favre and tell you, compassionate, I need a hug. I’m all right," Childress stated.
Though later claiming it to be a joke, due to the tone of the comment, nobody in the media seemed to think so. Childress might not be ready for a stand-up comedy career if it was, as I've seen better delivery from a UPS truck in a muddy ditch.
Now the Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that several Vikings players have commented on how they feel about Childress.
"We know that Childress doesn't have our backs, so why should we have his? We're playing for us, and we're winning despite him,'' one player said, apparently forgetting they are 3-5.
Other players that are reported to comment have stated they hate Childress, and one even took a swipe at the Dallas Cowboys.
None of the players were named, making these remarks more similar to the anonymous message board posts you see across the internet. They might as well have been posting "WTF? OMFG! LMAO" in a back-and-forth Twitter battle.
Why would the players comment at all?
Childress has been unprofessional enough without the team joining in now. The whole group is acting childish, especially with an on-field leader who's first game was accounted for via cave painting.
The Vikings who dislike Childress should have just declined to comment and prepared to play this week. Taking nameless jabs at him to a reporter is no more professional than Childress' press conference comment.
What's next, ordering a bunch of pizza to his house? Putting a bag of flaming dog doo on his doorstep?
If the Vikings are serious about saving a season that saw them as Super Bowl contenders, they need more than a coaching change and healthy players.
They need to grow up.
