NFL Fantasy Football Statistics in Week 9 and Beyond: Where Are the Patriots?
O Patriots, Patriots, Wherefore Art Thou Patriots?
- Since the Patriots’ traded Randy Moss, 27 quarterbacks are averaging more points per game than Tom Brady’s 13.7 PPG (Weeks 6 through 9).
- Wes Welker is averaging 7.95 points in PPR leagues during this same span. Welker scored more points than this in every single game of 2009 (excluding Week 17’s season-ending knee injury).

More reasons to hate the AWESOME team you drafted.
Undrafted Rookie Seyi Ajirotutu put up 27.1 points in PPR leagues in Week 9. This is more than the following players combined:
- Miles Austin
- Calvin Johnson
- Steve Smith (CAR)
- Brandon Marshall
- Anquan Boldin
- Chad Ochocinco
- Pierre Garcon
Mike Williams – A Steal In Reality and Fantasy
Tampa Bay’s fourth-round pick Mike Williams’ 559 yards and 5 touchdowns through eight games are the best for a rookie wide receiver since 2006. Marques Colston put up 700 yards and 7 touchdowns in the first eight games of that year.
Mike Williams currently has more fantasy points than Brandon Marshall, Santana Moss, Larry Fitzgerald, Steve Smith (NYG), and Dwayne Bowe (among others) and was most likely available in the 11th round of most 12-team drafts.
Jacob Tamme Would Kick Chuck Norris' Ass, and Antonio Gates is Still a Stud
Jacob Tamme’s 17 targets in Week 9 are the most by a tight end this year. The next highest was 13 (Jason Witten, Dallas Clark, Zach Miller, and Antonio Gates).
Extrapolate Tamme’s numbers out to eight games and he’s only four points behind Antonio Gates. I know it's a small sample size of two games, but it is legal to assume crazy things like this in the world of statistics.
Despite not playing in Week 9, the number of points Antonio Gates has separating himself and the next best tight end:
- Standard: 46
- PPR: 57
Team Defense Factoids
- The New York Jets have allowed the sixth-most fantasy PPG to opposing quarterbacks (19.9)
- The New Orleans Saints have allowed the least fantasy PPG to opposing quarterbacks (12.0)
- Team Defenses facing the Arizona Cardinals have scored the most points (15.3 PPG)
- Team Defenses facing the Kansas City Chiefs have scored the fewest points (4.3 PPG)
Targeting a Kicker?
- The Arizona Cardinals have allowed a league high 11 PPG to opposing kickers
- The Chicago Bears have allowed the fewest points to opposing kickers (4.9 PPG)
