Jacoby Ford and the Oakland Raiders Defeat Division-Leading Kansas City Chiefs

In a game where the Oakland Raiders committed a season-high 15 penalties, they somehow found a way to come through. It was not the prettiest win for Oakland, but Coach Tom Cable and his Raiders will take it any way they can get it.

The Raiders were shut out for the first two quarters of the game and went into halftime trailing 10-0.

The Raiders received the ball to open up the second half, and rookie speedster Jacoby Ford took it back 94 yards to cut the Chiefs lead to 10-7.

The Chiefs responded with a Ryan Succop field goal to extend their lead to 13-7. Jacoby Ford's kick return injected some life to the Raiders' offense, as they marched down field for a seven-play 74-yard drive which ended in a two-yard Khalif Barnes touchdown catch.

Barnes was eligible on the play.

The Raiders entered the fourth quarter with a 14-13 lead, but they had a long way to go. They than extended their lead to four on a 12-play, 75-yard drive that ended with a 23-yard Sebastian Janikowski field goal.

The Raiders led 17-13 and things seemed to finally be going their way.

The Black Hole was disappointed later in the fourth quarter after Nick Miller fielded a Chiefs' punt, only to fumble the football and hand it right back to Kansas City.

The Chiefs capitalized on the turnover as Matt Cassel hit Dwayne Bowe on a 20-yard touchdown strike due to blown coverage by the Raider secondary. Safety Mike Mitchell attempted to get over on Bowe but he was too late. Bowe's touchdown put the Chiefs up 20-17.

The Raider defense later forced the Chiefs to punt and got the ball back with 2:06 left in the game with no timeouts.

After a miserable first half, quarterback Jason Campbell came alive in the second half, especially late in the fourth quarter. Campbell and the Raider offense drove down the field for a 10-play, 53-yard drive which was capped off by a game tying Janikowski field goal.

The play of the drive and perhaps the game, took place on a first and 20 where Campbell hit Jacoby Ford for a first down in which he ripped the ball away for corner back Brandon Flowers.

The Janikowski field goal sent the game into overtime tied at 20. The Chiefs would be the first to receive the football, but the Oakland defense forced them to a three and out and the Raiders began their drive with excellent field position on their own 38-yard line.

On first down the Raiders went for the dagger as Campbell threw deep to Ford for a 47-yard gain as he beat Brandon Flowers. The long pass and catch set up a game winning 33-yard field goal from Janikowski.

The Black Hole was ecstatic as the Raiders won their third straight game and improved to 5-4 and 3-0 within the AFC West.

The Player of the Game went to rookie receiver Ford who got things started with his 94-yard kickoff return to open up the second half. He also made his presence felt on the offense, catching six passes for 148 yards.

Ford's two biggest catches came in the fourth quarter and overtime, both leading to Janikowski field goals.

The Raiders have a bye in Week 10, and head to Pittsburgh in Week 11 to take on the Steelers.
