New York Knicks 2010: A Quick Look at the Victory Against Washington
After winning their second straight game, New York City can once again try their best to get excited for a Knickerbockers season.
Now we can use our suddenly relevant basketball team to band together once again as a fan base. Even if the relevance is mostly in our head.
So far we have gotten little from our big acquisition Amare Stoudemire. Statistically his numbers have been mediocre and he has been the definition of a human turnover. However, something seems different in Knicks Land and I think Stoudemire deserves the credit.
Finally there is a player on the Knicks who makes teams have to strategize to defend him. This has left every single Knick just one more step to work with.
Wilson Chandler has played great, Raymond Felton and Toney Douglas have looked like an explosive backcourt. Landry Fields and Ronny Turiaf are the players who do the little things that the Knicks have lacked in recent years. And Danilo Gallinari has been the occasionally effective enigma that looks capable of carrying us for stretches.
So worst case teams will adjust to the talents of the surprising Knicks, or Amare could life his game and bring his teammates up to another level.
In the end it all relies on how Amare adjust to this new-found attention.
He needs to recognize the double team quicker and make the easy pass. His jumper needs to be consistent so that he can further draw defenses out.
Finally he needs to be even more aggressive than he was in Phoenix and really do his best to carry this team on his shoulders.
