The whispers coming out of Maryland the past couple of days were correct. As predicted, linebacker Conner Crowell verballed to Ohio State and will wear scarlet and gray as a collegian.
It is a big verbal, if for no other reason than the fact that the Buckeyes had not secured a linebacker in the 2011 class. However, Crowell also has some serious game, matching good speed with solid size. It would appear he can play the run and pass equally well, bringing the kind of versatility needed in the 21st century.
Crowell, a senior at North Point High Scool in Waldorf, Maryland, picked the Buckeyes over Penn State. The 6'1" 220 pound linebacker registered 74 tackles as a sophomore and 100 tackles, two sacks and two intercpetions as a junior. Scout ranks him as the number 23 middle linebacker in the nation and Rivals has him ranked 20th at outside linebacker.
Welcome to the Silver Bullets of Ohio State, Mr. Conner Crowell.
