Oakland Raiders Must Stay the Course: Not Perfect but So Much Better

Honor Warren Wells TheTorchNov 4, 2010

Have you ever been very hungry and no food was around?

For seven years Raider Nation has been very hungry for wins. There was a time when some people in Raider Nation thought that they were going to starve to death because the losses were too frequent and no wins were near.

The smile on Tom Cable's face was the kind you see after you finish a great meal. His face showed inner peace because the Oakland Raiders are performing better each week. His November 4th interview was positive and realistic. He knows that his team should be at 6-2, but 4-4 is the team's reality

Fans in Raider Nation were "starving" for more wins, like a hungry man peering at a T-bone steak, but unable to get close enough to consume it.

Suddenly, about two weeks ago, something happened. The team began to play as a "team." More risks were taken. More passion was shown. More wins became evident and the scores were surprisingly large.

I think that this may be the first time in the history of the Oakland Raiders that they have accumulated 75 points above their opponents in two consecutive wins.

In a future article, I plan to make the calculations to support this conjecture.

For now, let's just enjoy the two consecutive victories. Let's rejoice that Jason Campbell will be the starter in the game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

There is so much to be happy about these days. As Tom Cable said in his Nov. 4 interview, the Oakland Raiders must stay the course.

With that advice, we can expect the performance of the Oakland Raiders to get better and better.

Wow, that's a good thing to think about. It's a good thing to call friends on the cellphone and talk about what's happening with the Oakland Raiders.

Once more, most folks will have to say,  Go Raiders, go!

Others may use the phrase made popular in a elementary school reader which goes something like this, "Run, Raiders, run."

Where must they run? To the endzone, where else?
